"Check out these settings to get The Witcher 3 running fluidly on the PC."
you need a 970 or above to achieve 60fps, so my GTX 780 is only good for 30fps apparently. What a load of crap
Yea dude 900 series cards are more optimized for nvidia GameWorks/HairWorks.
...i'm also confused if I should buy PC version or PS4 version....i'll have to wait some more days and then decide..
If you have a good rig you need to buy it on PC. I have both a console version and a PC version and the PC version looks and plays so much better. If you don't have a high end PC then I'd say buy for whatever will run it best.
Not only do you need a 970 and above to acheive 60 fps, but you also have to turn things down to achieve it.
I have a 780. Turn off hair works, set bodies on screen to high, foliage to high and shadows to high... everything else on Ultra. All post processing turned on. I get 60fps at 1080p just fine.
This guide sucks
It's no load bud, that's why I stopped playing PC games and went to consoles. Seems like a better idea to play up to snuff gaming on your couch, big screen with good surround; rather that drop $300 every time a game comes out to upgrade the old rig. Keep your Mac/PC up to date for production use and browsing and buy a console every 6 years. The graphics get progressively better as developers figure out how to squeeze every last big of juice our of the systems. Just look at Mobile suit gundamn or Resistance (ps3 launch games) compared to The last of Us on that system. Always felt like Mac/PC developers just throw whatever they can at the hardware expecting people to upgrade every other title. That in my opinion isn't a sign of development savvy. Savvy?
Thats a bunch of bogus. Really upgrade the rig every time a game comes out? Console games get better over time, but dont all games? I have been a console gamer my whole life and have built my first rig in the past year and have not regretted it one bit. Keeping my PS4 for exclusives ONLY. I payed $27 for MKX, and I just bought Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight for $60 TOTAL!!! How much would you pay if you bought all 3 preordered?
Where did you get 3 pre orders for 87 bucks? And how much re sale value do you have in those 3 purchases. While from gamefly i get a 10% discount off top along with monthly coupons of 10 dollars off. Which would cost me 38 bucks, while it's not as cheap as your's. But in turn i can re sale my game and probably get 30 bucks out of it once i finished it.
Bought Witcher 3 on PS4 last night. Its a laggy pile of trash unfortunately and unplayable imo. It look amazing, but whats the point if every time i turn the camera its studders like crazy. I ejected the game and put it back in the case. I'll only play again if/when they fix it. So disappointed =(
Bs. I've got the game for the ps4 and it is running smoothly. No dips at all so quit your lying. Anyone can see your comment history. You are clearly a troll who hasn't got a ps4. Try harder next time to spread misinformation.
Yea right bro, my psn is SavingPvt_Highon and i got my ps4 at launch. I love sony and ive been following this game for over a year. Maybe i just got a bad batch in my region. My brother and i both went and picked up our ps4 copy at 12:01 last night and both are experiencing the same horrible lag. I don't appreciate you calling me a liar and I don't appreciate you calling me a troll. And as far as my comment history goes, speaking your opinion does no = trolling. You clearly don't know or understand what trolling means.
Great guide. Thanks for writing it!
On my system (i7-920, 780 Classified, 12gbRAM), i can play the game at 1080p on ULTRA settings (no Gameworks) at around 45-50fps. If I turn down the Foilage Visibility Range to HIGH, I am right at 60fps give or take 2-3fps. Turning a few other settings down to HIGH brings me up to the 80s but not needed. I figure that my CPU is a bottleneck here also. How's everyone else doing?
My system(i5-2500K, 970, 8GBRAM-all stock speed with old Nvidia driver) runs TW3 around 40-50fps at 1080p on Ultra(no Gameworks). I haven't turned down any settings to see I can achieve 60fps. I tried limiting the framerate at 30 after reading in the GoG forum about how the camera lurch around for being not optimized for 60fps. Capping it at 30 actually did make the camera feels smoother and Geralt less sliding around(stopping a little bit further than where you want him to) but I couldn't stand the 30fps.
From my experience I think you really need sli for the witcher 3. I have 2 780ti classys and hairworks abuses them like red headed step child's. I go from 100 FPS to 50 FPS average of 60 ( thank jeebus for gsync ) oddly enough the max video memory I've used was 56% for 1080p. Must have good sli support.
Yeah, there's not tips on crashes...this is basically just telling people to lower their settings if they are running a 600 or 700 series Nvidia card. Pretty much a worthless article. It also assumes you don't have issues if you have the recommended stuff, except, there's been tons of issues amongst those that have the recommended stuff.
