E3: Sony Soars To New Heights

Endsights writes:

"Even though they lost another exclusive in Final Fantasy XIII, Sony had a strong yet somber showing at E3. They made it loud and clear, on several occasions, that this was the year of the PlayStation 3, and I couldn't agree more. After bringing up the rear in the "next-gen console war" ever since its launch, the PS3 is showing its teeth for the first time ever since the battle for supremacy began. After a stellar month of June, where the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 by a healthy margin, and where Metal Gear Solid 4 stealthily sneaked atop the sales charts for the month, Sony showed off its full arsenal for this year and beyond and proved that they can compete with Nintendo & Microsoft."

Damn straight it's the year of the PS3. Let Microsoft have FFXIII. Let them gloat over it, because that game going multi-platform only made way for something even bigger to come. :)

Two weeks time, a square enix surprise for PS3 owners involing Advent children, aparently it's going to swing the pendulum back into the PS3s favor, so says Shane bettenhausen on 1up lol

dannyhinote_135752d ago

Shane is hard to take seriously, though. :P
Hopefully he's right this time...

i_eatbreakfast4lunch5752d ago

any heights are new heights for them!

sinncross5752d ago

involving FF7, not to do with AC.

:)

morganfell5752d ago

Well 1.2, would that include the heights where they outsold MS in 2007? Forgot that one didn't you.

i_eatbreakfast4lunch5752d ago

i said nothing about MS now did i, i can outsell a piece of shat if i wanted but this is about sony and actually reaching their expectations, which they are far from... empty promises

morganfell5752d ago

Sony has done quite a respectable of reaching what they promised. The issue isn't Sony, it is people like you that misunderstood Sony thinking that they were going to deliver everything on Day 1. That is your fault, not Sony's. They could do a better job in some areas but they are moving every day toward delivering on their vision.

For me the PS3 is exactly what they planned on delivering and is far more than a gaming machine. It is the next generation entertainment hub in my home.

Of course there are bitter people like you that wouldn't be satisfied with anything. Guess what? I could care less. I and what is easily the vast majority of owners - which you likely are not - are satisfied with Sony, their offerings, their vision, and most importantly their movement toward that vision.

People that expect a company to deliver everything right now and it will be perfect are the same people that will believe anything. And when they can't get the impossible the reaction is more than predictable. But gamers that understand how progression has to occur not only get what they want but they also enjoy it.

1.2 New Heights for who, Sony? You mean two consecutive 100M console selling Sony?

RAM MAGNUMS5752d ago

its ps3!
they not going no where.
so unless you are new to this, there is absolutly no way you can call yourself
a veteran gamer & not have a ps3 & a psp.
treat yourself.
live free & play beyond!

Xiru5752d ago

People just need to open their eyes. I actually bashed the PS3 when I first heard about it and its controller. They have made a fan out of me and I am one of their biggest supporters now. This is because of the quality that is coming from the Sony camp, and I believe it will continue through the whole generation.

amen. waiting has truly been worth it.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC3h ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Friendlygamer4h ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey6024h ago(Edited 4h ago)

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya2h ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde2h ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

Used to love this one, but X-Men Legends 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, especially Rise of Apocalypse. Would pay some good money to play it today with online multiplayer, back then I had no way to get a modem

RavenWolfx2h ago

Yeah, I loved the Legends games so much.

ZeekQuattro9h ago

I remember buying them dirt cheap on the PS4 and then a few days later I read they were delisted. I was wondering why the bundle was price so low and got my answer when that happened.

Knightofelemia7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

Sad to say this is one game franchise next to the Xmen that needs a sequel. I use to play the hell out of Xmen Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Was great when my cousin had the OG Xbox play with four other people and then playing online. Great games glad to see it reappear even though I own the discs love the mechanics of this game.

Terry_B7h ago

It got a sequel..but for dumbass #reasons as a switch exclusive.

shinoff21837h ago

It looked so horrible to. They should've kept it similar to the first two.

Asplundh7h ago

Because Nintendo funded it, they did the same for Bayonetta.

Knightofelemia6h ago

I totally forgot about the Switch sequel.

jukins7h ago

Misleading. This page is whats available for people who owned the game prior to delisting.

Abnor_Mal6h ago

The first game was the best imo.
