Digital Foundry:
The Unity engine-powered remake compared on PS3, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is a successful remake of the classic game, merging familiar gameplay mechanics with a complete visual overhaul that is both modern and attractive, while retaining the humour and spirit of the original game. It's a Eurogamer Recommended title on PS4 and from a gameplay perspective, it's just as compelling on PS3, Xbox One and PC too. On a technical level, the same core level of graphical quality is present across the PS4, Xbox One and PC, but the inability to hold 60fps jars on console - especially on the Microsoft platform.
Starting today, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is free at Epic Games Store. The free game offer runs until December 19 at 11 AM Eastern. Once you claim it, it’s yours to keep.
"If you're a 2D puzzle adventure aficionado who doesn't already own Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty on one of the half dozen consoles that it's currently available for then it'll make for a worthy purchase but those who do have it will find little reason to get it again on Switch." - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums
WTMG's Heidi Hawes: "All Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty! managed to do was frustrate me. However, it did make me appreciate the controls in Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee more. Honestly, if you’re new to the franchise, it might even be better to just skip ahead to Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. At least those gameplay mechanics feel like something more from this era. That being said, if you’re a die hard fan of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee or perhaps just a glutton for punishment, then perhaps try your luck with Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty!."
PS4 version looks better than xbox one.
Looks identical to me.
PS4 Version better framerate. Good to be a ps4pwner.
I didn't notice those frame drops when I played it
