The Ocarina of Time Speedrun World Record Has Been Beaten Yet Again

NL:
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is not only an all-time classic game, but the source of one of the most keenly fought speedrun world records. Speedrunning experts continue to set new standards, each seemingly defying the odds more than before.
Well, the record has been beaten again, once again utilising quirky skips that can be accessed through performing tricky moves early in the game. This time around the record holder is skater82297, who's cleared the game in 17 minutes and 47 seconds. The 17 year old plays the Japanese version as the subtitles scroll faster; that's the level of detail that these speedrunners follow.

Nice work! Btw, I was never excited for those speedruns, I prefer to play a game without being in a hurry, I enjoy it more.

ziggurcat929d ago

yes, but speed runners have generally completed the game multiple times before even attempting to do a speed run.

Nobody tries to speedrun on their first go.

Toiletsteak929d ago

I beat it faster then him i just didn't record it because i don't like to show off.

Emrage929d ago

No you didn't there is no way you can be faster look at how many times he tried it(1567) he knew what button to click at what time and everything and i'm sure you didn't.

Emrage928d ago

@iSuperSaiyanGod I know it was sarcasm but it wasn't even funny.

jesus calm down its just sarcasm

Haha it took a year to beat this shit back in '99.

Geobros928d ago

Me I think I did 4-5 months. I was stuck few weeks in that bad Water Temple. Even noways I hate that temple, i am always missing a f***ing key.

I am missing those days without gamefaqs and walkthrough in the internet. We had to find the way ourselves or to wait a magazine to write a walkthrough. If we speak for Ocarina, this walkthrough was in 4 parts, one part per month, so we had to wait long.

ziggurcat929d ago

how much did he beat the old record by?

ziggurcat928d ago

it also seems like he must've gotten really lucky with one or two of the skips because he freaks right out and starts hyperventilating hahaha
