Project CARS looks better.

ThinkThink1316d ago

I would hope project cars looks better considering Forza 5 was a launch game back in 2013. A more accurate comparison will be Forza 6 and project cars as they are both out in 2015.

hay1316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

I personally pefer Forza 5 look and gameplay, pCARS feels waaay too exaggerated and "physics" seem to be lacking proper response like ignoring physical grip just to give you some pre-set amount of time to react, that's fakeish.

When it comes to simulators, graphics are secondary. I still enjoy Race Drivin' more than Project CARS.

reallyNow1316d ago

do you really think for one second that Forza is more realistic than Project Cars? I think what you think is realism isn't that. I think it's something else.

Naga1316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

I'm really struggling to see something that really stands out and justifies making the jump from Forza 5 to Project Cars. I'll certainly grant that the sound is better, and the off-track environment is better... but that's about it...

I haven't personally given Project Cars a go yet, but something about the physics just seems a little off to me - can someone with hands-on experience with both games confirm or deny that?

shloobmm31316d ago

Considering the fact that real race car drivers play forza and run the laps in the same way they would in a real car and in the same times i would say yeah thats realistic.

hay1316d ago

@reallyNow: Well, I agree. If we take into consideration that pCARS is more realistic than Forza then I'm sure as hell it's not the realism I think of.

Kal0psia1316d ago

I know exactly what you mean, it's the developers of Shift so you'll kind of get use to it easy if you enjoyed their games. Personally I find it a lil' annoying but overall driving is exceptional.

badz1491316d ago

those cardboard crowds get me everytime LOL!

AndrewLB1316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

hay- If you've ever driven an actual race car on a track, you'd understand that Project Cars is incredibly realistic. I've got about 30 hours behind the wheel of a Radical SR3 and the game is spot on. People who have never been in such a vehicle don't really understand how unforgiving they can be when pushing it's limits. Every single preconceived notion I had about driving the SR3 prior to my first lap turned out to be wrong and made me realize how little I understood about driving. The first day was a humbling experience to say the least.

Autovista = Photo-Mode = Looks nothing like actual gameplay.

I still can't get over how many people try and pass off photo-mode type shots as being representative of the actual game.

Stop trying to pass off AutoVista specs as actual gameplay. There is no way in hell the Xbone is going to produce graphics even close to approaching the PC version of Project Cars. It just can't be done with 1.31 tflops no matter the optimization, API, Secret Sauce, Cloud Power, or any other nonsense. IN order to play Project Cars maxed out at 1080p/60, you need about 4.0 tflops which is over 3x the power of the Xbone's GPU.

BeefCurtains1316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

Here's my take from the video:

In the showroom, Forza looks incredible. Forza win.

On the track where it matters, project cars.

Track detail, project cars has better detail. But objects off in the distance (stands) look pretty comparable.

Engine sound, project cars.

While actually racing: check out 4:15 on the video. While project cars does mostly look better while racing, what's up with all the tearing and the ground arrows popping up through the car? If that isn't patched, Forza is arguably better. If patched, then PC is the winner.

All in all, Forza is phenomenal, never mind the fact that it's almost 2 years old. But project cars has got the edge.

Stop... Just stop....

hay1316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

@AndrewLB: No, actually I haven't, but I have some experience in driving under difficult mountaneous conditions where grip is a fraction of that on the road, therefore maybe I prefer to appreciate the suspension system and more scrupulous take on the torque simulation a bit more.

Forgiveness in Project CARS is so much counterintuitive when comparing to real life situations where you sometimes have so little time to react it hurts my brain while I play this game.

Gotcha51315d ago (Edited 1315d ago )

I agree...come back this fall for comparison when The New Forza Tech Engine is revealed for Forza 6 and then make judgement for whom's best racing sim for 2015.

Project Cars looks brighter. As if the FM5 is very overcast. In looks like its going to rain in the FM5 vids with darker cloud coverage.

P.C. has more breaks in the clouds thus creating a more brighter tone.

Both look very nice for their respected games.

Kal0psia1316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

Fm5 looks overcast because it is, it's Silverstone Circuit in England. If you've played the game each track represents the region's weather very well, too bad it isn't dynamic.

I dont' think everyone is watching the same vid as I am. Fm5 has better draw distance, textures and great "scale" everything looking proper in size.

Also, towards the end it revealed it's a PS4 version. ;D

EDIT: also exceptional anisotropic filtering, great fidelity even with mediocre AA and upscaled resolutions

kraenk121316d ago

Lighting and shaders are superior in pCARS by far. I hope Forza 6 improves a lot in those areas as with the weather system.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ1316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

NOPE Everything from Car interior being more detailed in F5, more track detail, more environment detail, better show room, F5 has an avg of 2,000,000 poly count per car vs 500,000 in PC. Better physics, WAYYYY better AI, better collision hit system and not jittery like PC, etc.
Who ever says PC won any of these categories is either anti forza or is blind! Plus Forza 5 runs at 1080p and a flawlessly NEVER dipping below 60fps!

PC has Weather while forza does not, and it's more of a sim than Forza, that is really the only thing I see better. Forza 6 and GT7 will wipe the floor with this game! Anyone who disagrees, needs to man up and explain why ;)

Here is a thread full of forza 5 car pics not in auto vista. Way better then that screenshot you posted.

Heres a closeup shot and cockpit

nicksetzer11316d ago

@signout not sure magical hat you pulled that gameplay footage from but it looks nothing like that

Don't get me wrong, the environments are no prize, but that photo you posted is an absolute farce. Forza has looked better than that since forza 3.

1316d ago
Naga1316d ago

@ nicksetzer1

That "magical hat" he pulled those screenshots from is called Direct Feed. If you ever played the game, you'd know it actually looks that good.

Your links, on the other hand, are garbage shots obviously taken from some compressed video. I don't know if you're trolling, or just know that little about what you're talking about.

I dont get why everyone thinks project cars looks so neat? between them forza 5 looks better...just look at the grass textures and crowd density. It is not by much but considering it was 2 yrs ago forza 5 was released it is weird! there havent been any remarkable change in graphics for project cars the recent year(s) i guess they started to hold back when they announced that they were releasing for consoles too....

1316d ago
Sharingan_no_Kakashi1316d ago

I guess they wanted to make it a little more fair seeing as how driveclub has been kicking errbody's butt in these comparisons. They had to pull out a launch game LOL.

Azzanation1316d ago

Lets consider a few things. Forza 5 was a launch game in 2013 using old SKUs which reduced 10% GPU performance for Kinect. Project Cars is using the latest SKUs with no hardware limitations.

What I see is Project Cars looks better in some ways but I see Forza 5 look better in others. The jump isn't that much greater considering the 2 year difference between games and one was handicap with restrictions.

I would be more interested to see how Forza 6 looks compared to Project Cars. Turn Tens track record shows they will continue to impress.

Professor_K1315d ago

Forza runs 60fps locked

project cars runs sub 40 fps
900p on the same console

it SHOULD look better but very chopy

i have both games and the most important thing is game play and project cars wins hands down

StrayaKNT1316d ago

I have both and forza 5 absolutely curb stomps project cars. It's not even a close comparison

Moldiver1316d ago

Even though its a comparison vid I found myself asking two questions:

1) whats up with those radical drivers. No way I would lose out to an R8 in one of those. That cars too heavy and lacks the mechanical grip of the radical. Rookie drivers! lol

2) Notice how similar the cornering speeds are in both games? I think thats as good as any indication to me that Pcars and forza both are two games with a sold grasp on G forces and cornering limits. This kind of stuff impresses me. as those speeds are about the same as what you do in real life around silverstone. I know.

I actually driven there a few time! Not as fast though. I only have a 1 series coupe but based on my own cars performance around some of those corners thats about right for that R8, given its power weight and 4WD layout. I think the R8 is a bit heavy by modern supercar standards. I would rather own a 911CS or a slighlty used 911GT3 for that kind of money. Its just a more exiting car to drive.

dreadz741316d ago

Project Cars does look better. PC has better lighting and track detail car models about the same. What hurts Forza 5 is the lack of AA which affects the clarity of the image in motion. Still very good for launch title that is 2 years old. I am excited for Forza 6 with it's proprietary game engine #forzatech

hello121316d ago (Edited 1316d ago )

There is clear evidence Forza 5 track detail is better you can see it when cars are driving around. Graphically PCARs has a edge but F5 was a launch game i think after 18months F6 is going to look better.

blackout1316d ago

The funny thing is that they took an almost 2y old game and compared to a just launched game. They must have thought DC wasn't even worth mentioning. Now when F6 drops let's see all the smart azzes come to some other car games defense. Lol, and how many times did this game get pushed back. If I'm not mistaken F5 was rushed for release on the x1, was supposed to be a 360 game. Project cars gets no love. Keep doing what you do MS.

IRetrouk1316d ago

I dont understand why you jackasses cant just play both, why does it have to be one or the other? Such a silly way to game :-/

wegetsignalx1308d ago

They wanted to make an Xbox to Xbox comparison. Driveclub is visually superior and would have to be downgraded to run on Xbox.
