Slightly Mad Studios' Boss: "NVIDIA have not paid us a penny", AMD Working To Fix Performance Issues

DSOGaming writes: "Project CARS has just been released, and a lot of AMD owners have reported performance issues, even when using red team’s high-end GPUs. Naturally, some may have thought that this is may be caused by NVIDIA, however Ian Bell, head of Slightly Mad Studios, claimed that NVIDIA has not paid Slightly Mad Studios a penny in order to intentionally cripple the game’s performance on AMD’s graphics cards. In short, this underwhelming performance is not due to NVIDIA’s “grand scheme.”"

Not even for the advertising boards around every track?

That is a straight up lie...

methegreatone952d ago

Why ?

Why would they not put nVidias logo up there anyway ? They are implementing some of their tech in your game, and you are partnering with them. Why not put their logo on a virtual advertising board on the track ?

Right, Nvidia paid for the in-game advertising, he clearly stated that Nvidia did NOT pay to cripple the game for AMD users.

People need to read things before posting.

He specifically said "that NVIDIA has not paid Slightly Mad Studios a penny in order to intentionally cripple the game’s performance on AMD’s graphics cards".

NVIDIA still could have paid them for advertising. Doesn't mean there was a conspiracy to screw over AMD users.

My thoughts exactly haha. Its a pretty known fact that rival GFX companies may 'entice' companies to implement certain code to enhance their hardware over others...

well if you actually read instead of hurrying to be the first commenter they actually said "NVIDIA has not paid Slightly Mad Studios a penny in order to intentionally cripple the game’s performance on AMD’s graphics cards".

You don't even need to click on the link, just read the synopsis.

Well. Its well know that nvidia actually makes an effort to improve and invest in PC games. Amd is less inclined to do so now that they have both console contracts. Nvidia can't make sure that PC version is drastically use to its potential like it should be but at least they try to make sure devs use features that been here for the longest and get them! To use new tech

The tinfoil hat brigade strikes again. Does anyone really think that all of these mad corruption/conspiracy theories actually happen? No-one can keep secrets on the internet.

What happened here is a studio didn't optimise their game properly. 99% of the time, what you think is conspiracy is just coincidence, incompetence or both.

AndrewLB952d ago

Incorrect.

The reason why nVidia cards run this game and many others so well is quality hardware, good drivers, and they go out of their way to partner with developers to add all sorts of features like PhysX, Gameworks, etc... and they spend a lot of time optimizing for performance.

AMD on the other hand is well known for not doing any of this or coming in at the very last moment before release.A lot of this has to do with fact that AMD is flat broke. Their stock is somewhere just slightly above junk status @ $2.30/share. I personally wouldn't be surprised if they went belly up in the next 5 years.

Blues Cowboy952d ago

Fair play, I agree with most of that actually. What I mean is that there was no evil conspiracy to "cripple" the game on AMD GPUs, though.
