Crysis 3 I couldnt wait for it to end. Turns out it was too long for me cos I lost interest and stopped playing.

Bloodborne I'm on the cusp of hitting 100 hours and I can challenge Gerhman if I want to, but I dont want it to end so I'm still running around doing what I can to prepare for NG+.

Its all relative.

I think I can since the gate in the back is open, but I never entered (don't want to trigger a cut scene).

Currently I'm going through the chalice dungeons on each type (standard and root) and level/depth. I want to kill the boss at the end before using multiple saves to get all endings.

You go manually hit the x button to talk to him first so you can go back there and at least check it out if you want to see the area. It's gorgeous.

Couldn't make it through the "massive" 6 hour campaign? I admit it wasn't my favorite FPS title, but playing it om the harder difficulties really adds depth to it.

Then again, I can't tell you how many games I've put down after 1-2 hours. I think as often as not that's the case sadly.

Lucy O'Brien works for IGN as has no credibility. She has done some aweful reviews. Very close minded. Hex is from Australian TV show Good Game. Again I find her opinions on games are often way off, not that I have watched the show enough to really know.

That Good Game show is hard to watch. It's really aimed at 6-14 year olds. Although sometimes Hex and Bajo do say things about some games that surprise me.

It's like they're being honest. Its kinda surreal.

Bloodborne was just an example. There have been plenty of other good games she has given low scores to. It's not that she doesn't like them it's that she gives silly reasons. Example, she doesn't like bloodborne because it all looks the same, no variety in locations. WTF is she talking about? Sounds like she didn't get past the first area.

Let's face it, if she was ugly you wouldn't care about her opinion.

The Witcher 3 is not the norm, though.
We bash games for their supposed shortness in The Order, and then ask if they're too long. I understand how it can be overwhelming tackling a game of this size, but let's quit trying to fit every game into a neat box with ideal lengths, multiplayer, no multiplayer, protagonist gender, etc... I love having diversity in titles, and let's just let the Witcher be what it appears as though it's going to be, a masterpiece. By the way Lucy Hex is beautiful.

Dear god yes, mist games are way to long I sont have over 10 hours to invest in a s ok ngke player game unless it us a game like bloodborne darksouls, skyrim or fallout. But if its a generic game or a shooter, the shorter the better.

They're padded with filler content and high difficulty sometimes, but rarely is there a perfect game that feels too long. It just depends on the game. Journey was perfect but I don't think Metal Gear Solid was long enough. At least neither had padding.

I prefer short experiences generally though, so I can take in more.

Difficult to watch that video, they sound like people that are forcing themselves to play the games just for the reviews. Never ask a reviewer if a game is too long, they will always say yes. Its rare these days to have a games 'journalist' talk about games in a passionate way, this is why I love youtubers, they just do their own thing usually for fun and give totally honest opinions.

It depends where you are in your life. Before I had a family, I could play a 100 hour game in a week or two. Now it took me 3 months to beat Far Cry 4 and a full year for Persona 4 Golden. I pre-ordered the Witcher 3, but I'm afraid that I'll never have the time to finish it.

But your first point, absolutely. If I was still 14 - 24 yrs I would be playing games like Dark Souls 3x over with 300hrs+.

For the young it can be easy to not see this perspective.

Does that mean they're too long, or you're too busy? I know a guy that's clocked 18,000+ hours in WoW. When I asked him why, he said, "it's the best game ever. Why would I want to play anything else?" Though I don't agree with him, you can see how one game can bring endless hours of fun to someone. I played WoW when it launched and was bored to tears after roughly 20 hours. Was the game too long? No. Was it for me? No. That's OK. You don't need to beat or 100% every game to enjoy them.

I only got halfway through Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and The Witcher 1 on my first plays of the game. I still recommended them to everyone and loved that I'd have something to go back to at some point. Which I did of course. Those games are awesome!

Depends on personal preferences. Games can never be too long if they are well made and has well thought out gameplay ala Bloodborne, God of War 1, 2 & 3, The Last of Us, the very first Infamous and so on.

In the 80's and 90's, games would be really long and a short one was the exception! I would rather a long and enjoyable game then playing a 5 or 6 hr campaign.

I think games should be a minimum of 20 hour long. Minimum. I won't avoid short ones but I will always feel like you went lazy. It's not fun to buy a game at midnight release and beat it the same night before bed.

If you have a short campaign there better be 100s of hours of multiplayer to back it up.

And I'm not being greedy because games are $100 today ($60+$40 season pass typically ) if a ps2 game has more to offer then your ps4 game then you are doing something wrong. You have hard drives in every console and 50gb bluray discs. There is no excuse for lack of content.

Some games are definately too long, even some of the 6-8 hour ones, 2 hours of great plus 4-6 hours of rinse and repeat filler.

I'd like to see some 2 hour campaigns centred heavily around replayability, perhaps based upon making decisions that steer the story in a different direction each time you play or 'vantage point' style where you play the same scenario but with a different character each time.

No, but sadly with my job I have less time to play them. Which makes it harder for me to complete really long games.
