Hey Poor Player's Francis DiPersio writes - "Of the countless ’80s movies that somehow never received a video game adaptation, few are as confounding as John Carpenter’s 1998’s sci-fi thriller They Live."
I remember this movie, it was quite cool back in the day.
I always loved this movie as a kid, I'm sure if I watched it now now a days it will be so cheesy but I'd drop a few bucks on an indie game of it.
The movie still holds up. The end of it is a bit tongue cheek (the woman in bed with the alien) but the rest holds up.
I came here to chew gum and kick ass, right now I'm all out of gum. Yeah this was great in its time.
So, where is it? By the way many mainstream devs were treating genres and graphics like this - largely by ignoring them, proclaiming that they had been "outgrown" - it should only take six months to make this into a full game. With Flash animation - ugh...
Why is this not real!
Because Carpenter didn't think of it at the time.
I just hope a talented modder is able to use a resource like Beats of Rage to make this a reality. This is just too cool of an idea to pass up. And while they're at it, why not do the same with Big Trouble in Little China? A guy can dream....
Escape from New York would be good as well.
The movie was, and still is, great. It's a classic and one of my all-time favorites. I'd pay $12 (US) for this game.
Yeah, it really is terrific.
