Advanced Warfare appeared to take a positive step in the right direction and now Black Ops III may continue that forward trend. Is CoD really innovating?
Too early to tell, this is only game 2 of this generation (COD Ghosts was a port to X1 & PS4, I dont count it) Blops 3 sounds pretty good so far. Co-op campaign, fast but fluid movement, zombies has a story and xp system, gunsmith sounds cool, and unique multiplayer characters could work well. I hope the game turns out great cuz I didnt enjoy AW after coming back from a 4 year hiatus from the franchise.
It's not about reinventing. The point is COD is the best shooter in the market. Until there's competition to push it they have no incentive to really reinvent the formula. I don't like it either, but that's how the business works. Remember when it was Resistance and Halo 3 that came out in 2007? COD4 forced the competition to reinvent themselves. Now let's see if Rainbow Six, Star Wars, etc. can change the formula.
I suspect Devil's Third will shake things up, (robust melee, customized air strikes, map editor..)
COD MIGHT be considered the best "Military shooter" on the market, and even that is debatable.
no body buying this trash
Do the smart thing, put $5 down on it. Play the beta. If it's good, continue on. If it blows, pull your $5 off, and you'll know without a doubt your not missing anything. I'm one of the sheep that have bought cod every years, (except for ghosts, played it first, ugh) And I haven't had much fun, or put more then 20/30hrs into them. Glad I'll be able to try before I buy this year! So I don't waste my money again this year ha
I played AW mp during a free weekend on Steam. It was cool, but after about 2 hrs I was done with it and never looked back. It's easy to get sucked into the hype.
If you keep treating Betas like Demos, then companies will keep doing so.
I WANT MW4 NOW OK
I will decide once I play the Beta.
Well, how would we know? We have yet to play it. These types of topics shouldn't exist until the game is, at least, out. Right now, it's just been unveiled, let alone played/tried/beaten.
its incredible how ridiculous this industry continues to be when it comes to media... 'Has JJ Abrams reinvented Star Wars for a new generation?' article doesn't exist...because...we haven't seen the movie yet... gaming? 'here is another article on something unreleased with nothing but subjective trends and blatant conjecture...click to see more!'
And yet gaming reviews are far more accurate than movie reviews. Movie reviews say that Superman Returns is better than Avengers 2 Age of Ultron and Man of Steel for example. Superman ... Returns. A super hero movie where the superhero doesn't throw a single punch. Not joking.
No they haven't, but why should they. To most Call of Duty is the best FPS off all time so why change a formula that works. Every year Cod comes out and it is arguably the best $60 you can spend because it has something for everyone, a single player, some sort of coop mode, and multiplayer. It also always works at launch with little to no hiccups unlike other games
Funniest comment of the day.
Didn't last year's COD also do all this? Reinvented = the exo suit.
since the very first one on PC and I thought it was getting back on track with advanced warfare and then I see this trailer. What the hell are they thinking.
movement - copy of Titanfall tech - copy of DeusEx Engine - lol they are using older IW engine. Zombie mod - years here already So what inventions?
Remember when COD ghosts was supposed to rejuvinate the franchise? Lmao.
Ghosts was alright, Advanced Warfare was awesome, Black Ops 3 looks absolutely stupid... Copied off so many other games to make a CoD... I won't even bother trying the beta... It looks so stupid and it solely has the Black Ops name to sell units... Treyarch disappointed me. Been playing CoD since 2008 and this Will be the first game I skip entirely for the previous entry. When MW3 was the New CoD back in 2011, I got it, hated it and played the original Black Ops up till the launch of its sequel. I'm going to be doing the same thing with Advanced Warfare, but not going to waste my time buying BO3
How can this be considered a "re-invention" when from what I can tell based on footage it's just rehashing what has already been done? That's not to say the inspiration it draws from is particularly bad but it's not exactly reinventing the wheel. I wish they;d just do away with the zombies mode(Personally I can't stand it) and make an all out zombie game.
Re-intented......that's an idea Activision is highly afraid of after the word change and fresh experience. They can say they changed the game but when it comes out and then it plays with the exact same way and has the exact same problems as past games. You know what would have been a nice CHANGE, doing the 3rd person vietnam game or going back to WW2 not doing the exact same game as last year, stealing the premise to Deus Ex, stealing more from Titanfall and taking the power moves from Destiny.
Not that interested. I rather save my money for better games.
