In this interview Gamestop talk about creating the creatures that populate The Witcher 3, the new technology that went into bringing the world to life, and whether decapitated heads in the game can still talk.
Its amazing how a 9 million dollar production budget look better that most of AAA games of today. 25 million for marketing brings up the total to 34 millions. Once again, Hats Off to CDProjeckt. They are awesome.
thats it? 9? dont they have like 400 people working on this for almost 5 years now? how the hell did they keep the costs so low? wow. no wonder wb is letting them toss in a s*** ton of freebies, theyre gonna make mad profit off of this.5m+sales is pretty much a given.
Last i read, they had 250 people on the project. The Witcher 2 already made tons of profits for them and its whole budget was 10 million dollars and sold like 3 million or something so that's a lot. I think Witcher 3 have the potential to get 10 millions total sales. Hopefully it does because it deserves it.
They also have a pretty big presence in Poland, so I wouldn't be surprised if they get substantial tax rebates and writeoffs.
$9M would go a lot further in Poland compared to America or UK.
Then all developers should just live in Poland lol. Less risks and high profits.
i just hate how non proportional the development costs are compared to the marketing costs, can you imagined if they switched that around or made it half and half. Probably wouldn't need all the marketing as it would sell it self better
Because they are boss and they are doing what they love!! I think if a game company has people that love what they do the game will show but for people let's say like Bob witch most people are see this a job and who likes doing to work five days a week and just staying right there for years just bam same thing everyday and still not moving up in life.. so what I'm saying they have so much love there unlike EA. Mmm now that I read this it's kinda sounds hippe.... oh well
Thats the problem with most devs working under the Overlord publishers like EA and Ubisoft. They suck the passion right out of the developers and it becomes all about just getting a job done.
Yeah I know the world well but that's a story for another day lol plus tons of money down the drain for a job that was not good at all but hey there bad fucking cheap ass rich dicks with there bigs office and fancy coffee don't know shot about gaming just like money think they know gaming but hey it's life
These are the types of devs that everyone should support. Hats off to CD Projekt Red.
HOLY SHIT that is one epic video!
