If you are a PS TV owner, you are most likely very disappointed, because you can't use its true potential, which lies in playing PS Vita games on the big screen. This Sony's limit may soon be the thing of the past.
Neptunia ReBirth 1 needs PSTV support in the west so i'd totally be on board with this.
Can we get a streets of rage remaster please?
The memory card prices and the fact games that interest me are no longer made for it is the reason I still haven't got one. The biggest turn off though was the fact it was not backwards compatible with my PSP collection. Actually I think the memory card prices are the biggest turn off. Hell I would buy all the games digitally and full price but I don't want to have to worry about space which means I need at least a 128GB card. I can get a 128GB micro sd card for between $15-30. Yet Sony's own 64GB card cost $100+! The Vita didn't kill itself Sony killed the Vita. Bad name, bad prices, and of course horrible support from any major game developer. Lol they blamed piracy because of the lack of sells on PSP yet the Vita is not even matching PSP piracy days software sales when it's selling at it's best and there is no Vita piracy. This just shows piracy doesn't kill a good product and Vita obviously came short of it's fathers legacy.
"I can get a 128GB micro sd card for between $15-30." You gotta give that Dr Pepper a rest, it's clearly rotting your brain.
Well, I just saw a 128gb SD card on amazon for 20$ :P
Well the high quality cards are around $50-$90. But on eBay you can get the generic cards for $30. The speeds of the cheaper cards would have probably been fine for the Vita if they were supported. Still only paying $80 for 128GB is still a way better deal than paying over a $100 for a 64GB card that definitely has slower speeds. I mean come on compare these Prices: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0... Here is the official priced cards from Sony: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0... They normally charge $100 for 32GB when 64GB micro SD cards are only $30 for top quality cards.
The only reason they made the PS TV was to make money off of PS VITA owners who wanted to play their games off of the big screen tv. They did not need the PS VITA. They could have just allowed the games to be put on the PS3 or ps4. But they knew of that many would skip the vita and play these games on the other ps consoles.
Just as nintendo doesn't NEED the DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, 2DS, 3DS, or 3DS XL. All the games for those systems can be played on any nintendo console but you nor anyone else is gonna give nintendo a hard time about THAT are ya?
"The only reason they made the PS TV was to make money off of PS VITA owners who wanted to play their games off of the big screen tv. They did not need the PS VITA. They could have just allowed the games to be put on the PS3 or ps4. But they knew of that many would skip " Sony did not need the PSVita, Sony could have just put those games on the PS3 and PS4.. LMAO, at those gamers being upset Sony not making AAA games for the PSVita..with Consumer Perception about the product such as yourself is it any wonder? I mean, Ever since the [email protected] The MOST IRONIC THING IS you have those very same gamers complain about Sony not making any AAA games for the system, but they go on about why play those games on the PSVita when I can just play them on the PS3 or PS4. LMAO
Yeah, the thought of increasing the userbase of the Vita by offering an option for those who don't want a portable, and also having an inexpensive device that people could use in place of Roku or similar devices for their streaming needs, was never a consideration. Seriously now. You can get the PSTV for around $70 or less nowadays. People will spend that much on a crappy game, so why not have a whole console that will likely have at least some games that would interest them. If you have PS+, PSTV is pretty much a no brainer to get more value out of the subscription. The people that say there is nothing on the system that interests them make me wonder if they actually know what's available on it, and if they only like one kind of game, because about the only game not heavily represented on the system is the FPS, but we can thank all the people who just ignored the ones that were there saying they sucked without ever playing them.
"but you can't use it's true potential, which lies in playing PS Vita games on the big screen because lazy sony still has not made possible for lots of them" This right here is why gaming journalism is little more than a ten year old doing a write up for a school project. This is why it is becoming more and more senseless to visit gaming websites. How is it that the people who are supposed to be writing and informing us about our hobby have absolutely NO idea about the hobby they are writing and informing us about? Someone please contact the writer of this article and inform him that it is not up to sony to make every vita game compatible with the PSTV, it's up to the developer of each game to make their own games compatible. Sony can only do that with the games they make.
I'll give you the writing is needlessly confrontational, but you're ultimately wrong. While Sony themselves can't fix or force a game to support the PS TV (or Vita), Sony can offer incentives, support, perks or make deals so companies will support it. I don't really want to needlessly argue a bunch of things, argue semantics, but ultimately there are things Sony can do.
The perk should be that they'll probably get more sales of the game because the PSTV is just more user base to sell to. Some concessions may have to be made with controls for those games which take advantage of Vita specific features, but otherwise, I'd say at least 90% of Vita's titles would play perfectly fine without any special code. I can see why older titles may not get that update, but any newer title should just have support by default. I, however, am surprised that Sony has not made it mandatory to include PSTV support in new games. That being said, many games do run on the system, and a lot of games are getting support added with updates. Some support it right out of the box...and I'm not sure what prevents a game from running. The ones that have rear touch screen support seem to be the ones that don't really get the update.
Amusingly enough, there's quite a few Vita games I'd love to play and would buy PS TV just for them, but none of them seem to be compatible. Seriously, what the Spaghetti?
Because like john stated above, its not up to Sony its up to the developer if the Game will get the porting process. Uncharted GA: for instance was built for the PSVita, Not for the PSTv, there is no camera, there is no touch pad that comes with the PSTv, thus the Uncharted GA game would have to be worked on to change parts of the game in order to get the game to be really compatable with the platform of the PSTv, and not a hacked system custom firmware bypass way to do it. But with Many Gamers Perception on the PSVta and the PSTv in the west, is it any wonder they are not doing such? I mean if the many Gamers that said hey if the PSP had dual Analog sticks said "hey i would buy the system" So Sony puts such in the PSVita, than the majority stated well; the Blank memory is to High...if the System was SD cards i would buy it than. But since SD cards can be put into a PC card reader and you know what that means right? Just like memory sticks PSP UMD's were dumped to memory stick's. Piracy is on Nintendo system, but games being built for the Nintendo 3DS does not take as much resources and team size as the PSVita hardware does for AAA games let alone the Cost in time to triangle for the AAA game. Piracy on such an investment cost to build such a game , every lost sales copy = less chance to get an ok from investment backers for a go ahead on releasing another Game on an easy to pirate system unless its a cheaper to make game like an indie: The Point at this time i think is; Sony is just fed up in dealing with a Portable market in the west because at this point it seem's if its not Nintendo or smartphones there really is no real growth area for any other Dedicated Game handheld system. I mean you have the WikiPad, the Nvidia shield, Archos Game pad, but yet you do not see tons of posts about how they are dead platforms on gamer sites, when they have far fewer sales per week and install base is no where near even the PSVita! Its very clear to Sony and the Market in the west, that maybe just Move to supporting Smartphones with a Playstation Game pad would pretty much be the extent of future Mobile playstation in the west. If they even do that they could very well just make an Playstation App that loads on your android or IOS device and use a standard dual shock 3/4 and freaking call it a day!
"Because like john stated above, its not up to Sony its up to the developer if the Game will get the porting process." 9/10 times it's actually on Sony. There have been developers who pre-release said their games should be PSTV compatible, but come release they aren't because Sony didn't mark it as such. "Uncharted GA: for instance was built for the PSVita, Not for the PSTv, there is no camera, there is no touch pad that comes with the PSTv, thus the Uncharted GA game would have to be worked on to change parts of the game in order to get the game to be really compatable with the platform of the PSTv, and not a hacked system custom firmware bypass way to do it." Not really. Firstly, Sony owns the developer who made that game, and they're still open. They could have easily made a patch for it. Secondly, AFAIK Golden Abyss doesn't use the camera at all. While the game uses a lot of Vita specific functionality, it's not as far as something like Tearaway. "I mean you have the WikiPad, the Nvidia shield, Archos Game pad, but yet you do not see tons of posts about how they are dead platforms on gamer sites, when they have far fewer sales per week and install base is no where near even the PSVita!" Because those are all Android tablets no one cares about. "If they even do that they could very well just make an Playstation App that loads on your android or IOS device and use a standard dual shock 3/4 and freaking call it a day!" You mean like the Remote Play app that already exists?
I didn't even buy the PSTV to play Vita games on. I bought it exclusively for remote play to my bedroom. I'd rather play Vita games on my Vita.
I feel the same way. I only have the PSTV for PS4 remote play, my Vita is for the Vita games.
I own a PsTV and I love it:)
