Let’s take a look at what makes this year’s highest rated games stand out, as well as what may hold them back
bloodborne for me so far. new to the series and it was amazing, funny thing is i tried dark souls and bloodyborne was miles better imo.
I'm in the same boat. I have not played either Demon's or Dark Soul. But Bloodborne is in my GOTY list as well. Edit: oo look, stealth disagrees with 'my personal' game of the year so far lol.
yeah i expect anyone with an xbox or pc will auto diagree because it isnt on there console.
Do play Demon's Souls. That game is fantastic.
guns > shields
If we exclude handhelds, then only Bloodborne/Pillars of Eternity/Ori (so far). But as it usually happens, most awards will be given to AAA title (The walking dead is an exception).
4 of those 6 games are on PC, where two of them are exclusives. Great to be a PC gamer nowadays.
Don't miss out on Bloodborne man it needs to be played.
Its always great to be a PC gamer, in this marvelous post-Win95 world.
Bloodborne all year long. Its a masterpiece, These types of games dont Come out every year. Bloodborne is already a classic. Nuff said.
Waiting for Witcher 3!!
BloodBorne will be GOTY this year by far
Bloodborn is great but if the hype previews are just a little bit true The Witcher 3 will be my GOTY for sure.
The Witcher 3, Arkham Knight and MGSV will give it a steep competition.
Bloodborne as of now but the witcher3, batman, metal gear,halo5 and maybe the division all have a good shot at it. The best thing of it all is I get to play each and every one of them. Coming from the gaming in the 80's I feel like i'm in gamer heaven. You younger gamers just don't know how good you have it right now.
Also a gamer from the 80's and frankly I feel a bit sorry for them. They missed out on one too many amazing classics. They missed out on the arcade. They missed out on Rock n Roll Racing and Goldeneye 64. Not to mention Yo! Noid!
Ha. Oh man, 30 years ago I had a bruised palm from playing Marble Madness for hours. Those were the days.
Arcades where fun but now I have a arcade I my house. A racing wheel, fightstick multiple consoles and games and unlimited continues (saving my quarters) But just arcade environment alone is something I wish my son's could experience.
Maybe Ori deserves an honorable mention as one of the best indies ever made; however, I think the titles yet to come out this year are the ones that will be the most likely GOTY material. I agree that Bloodborne can be considered a masterpiece though I think games such as The Witcher 3 have more potential due to being much more advanced as far as game technology, size and scope, wider appeal, and potential value for the money, etc.
Agree 100% with what you said. It's hard to define "game of the year" material because we get a ton of "great" games every year that will probably never be game of the year. GOTY is usually something game changing or that has all of the things that you said. I like your list!
Ori and the Blind Forest is my GOTY so far... but it's way too early. Witcher, Batman, Just Cause, Mad Max, Tomb Raider, etc, haven't been released yet. If Fallout 4 gets release this year, it will probably be my GOTY.
I'm not sure how people can honestly and realistically put Ori and Axiom Verge in the same "contender" list as Bloodborne. Bear in mind, both those 2 games are fantastic, but just think about it. Just by putting Bloodborne in the list, those 2 games would become instantly relegated as genuine contenders. As soon as The Witcher 3, Batman: Arkham Knight, and Metal Gear Solid V come out, then even Bloodborne's chances of GOTY become lower. ----- @ lelo2play A lot of people don't like Uncharted 2. It was still the consensus-based GOTY of 2009, and there was no chance of any other game winning over the amount of awards it received. That was my point. It's about being realistic about what will be the consensus. If we were talking about personal preference here, the article would have been called "My favourite GOTY so far is....". It's not. GOTY, in this context, is a consensus in this industry. Ori and Axiom will NOT win, and that my friend is called being realistic. Is that so hard to understand? ----- @ LAWSON72 How can you believe I'm being disrespectful here? LISTEN to what I'm saying. I'm not saying Ori cannot be somebody's own personal GOTY. I'm not saying that Ori is worse because of its budget as if you know me, you know I don't judge games based on their budget or their development status. I'm talking about a realistic consensus from the entire industry. Ori won't win, and that isn't undermining anyone's opinions unless you are really sensitive. It's being honest and truthful about how this industry judges GOTY.
A lot of people don't like Bloodborne or the Souls series. Is that so hard to understand?
Not on this site, majority of people say they love Bloodborne, anyone stating they don't are definitely the minority.I will say Bloodborne will be goty for the PS4.
I thought about and as far as I am concerned both are games whether one cost more to make is irrelevant. What matters is the how a game makes someone feel when they play it whether it is has far more content or assets or graphics is irrelevant. I am sure Bloodborne is great, but I think you are trying to undermine peoples opinion because you think they are wrong. IMO that is no better than just saying what you mean in a rude way, and the actual polite thing to do is respect others opinions.
Both ori and bloodborne are good but I think ori just takes it so far that game was a masterpiece in everything it did.
You really think that? Im not hating on your opinion of course, but Bloodborne just has SOOOOOO much more to offer than Ori. Ive only played a little bit of Ori (it was indeed very fun), but Bloodborne has far more content, rewarding combat, amazing graphics, and more. To each their own, but personally I feel like Ori wont be a major contender for GOTY, especially since its an indie title (although Journey managed to pull it off, so who knows)
Well graphics wise ori didn't have any jaggies it looked so perfect and what makes it the winner for me is the emotional story through it and I loved it where as in bloodborne I had no clue about the story at all and I finished it twice. Obviously everyone has their own opinion and I'm not going to argue over which one I think is better or not.
Ori is great indie game playable on pc
So in other words Microsofts products making it exclusive :) anyways you seem to have missed the question here lol
