Today quite a few media outlets reported that Sony might have trademarked the PlayStation Vita 3000 in Japan, after someone found a drawing tweeted by a Japanese trademark bot. Only, it has nothing to do with that.
Certainly a bummer. I would gladly buy a new PSV with HDMI out. I recently purchased an Android Portable that has HDMI out and it made me think how much I'd love that feature on the PSV. Still keeping my hopes up.
Kinda glad. Don't want Sony becoming like Nintendo and dishing out a new 3ds, 2d, 3dxl etc.. every 6 months. They should concentrate solely on Ps4 and Vita right now and 1st party games
As long as the Vita hasn't been maxed out yet، there's no need for a new Vita. I mean the 30% more power is still coming and im sure developers haven't maxed out the Vita previously anyway.
what developers? jk
Well if its about choice I gladly get the new model. But if it comes with new features (second analogstick, new/better hardware wich leads to exclusive content for said model. then they can keep it. but I can't see why you would not want new model, that just looks different
PSP 1000 PSP 2000 PSP 3000 PSP GO PSP e-3000 There's nothing wrong with improving on your design. And as Sony has already proven with the PSP, they're more than willing to release a new model every couple of years. I own every PSP on this list except for the PSP e-3000 and I can tell you there is s significant difference between all the models. If the Vita were more popular we would see more hardware revisions, and I would gladly buy them all.
Nintendo is so greedy. I can't believe they're still on the market with the same mentality of 40 years ago.
Disappointing to say the least. I'm sure it will eventually happen, though.
Thank you! it's no need to keep wasting money.
I hope that Sony would just improve the battery of the Vita for longer battery life or maybe they could just make another version with replaceable battery instead :p
It's the internet and it's bull again.
Sony wouldn't release HDMI Vita, there would much less point in buying Vita TV in that case
They make more money off the Vita hardware though, so why not push the sales of PSTV by making it available on a standard Vita. They're essentially the same thing...just need to pair a DS with it.:)
Them removing Maps, and other features in 3.50 was the reason it unlocked more power, which im glad because we can get quality games over stupid useless apps. Though i miss the maps app :O never used it though. Im sure something like this wouldn't be revealed like this itd been more clear of what said product was. Heres hoping somehow an R2 L2 configuration is added.
All you had to do was look at the picture. It looks identical to a PSVITA 1000 3G/WiFi.
If Sony released a new version of Vita that also functioned as a PS TV with an HDMI out so you can play PS4 games in a different room, added R2 and L2 buttons, and increased the size of the screen a bit I think the Vita could still be a hit. It would sell for Remote play and PS Now alone.
[email protected] Captainexplosion but while what you stated if Sony made such a PSVita would no doubt be awesome, I am really sorry to say it is very unlikely to happen at this point. If anything, there is very likely a Move by Sony to Move to more of a software/service for a Playstation Mobile or Playstation Portable at this point. A) Due to Mainly to smart devices example: the chipsets inside the PSVta and playstation TV are Arm Holdings Cortex design , which over 98% of all mobile chips inside all smartphone and Tablets use a chips design based on a Arm Holdings Arm processor. as a matter of fact the GPU onboard the PSVita is the SGX543MP4+ GPU that is a tweaked version of The Very Same GPU cores that the iPad III used. faster clock and further Tweaks aside from the system, in all blunt terms the PSVita is a smartphone or phablet with tweaked hardware for playstation. It is in no small terms that today while the PSVita or Playstation TV does not have the new and recently released chipsets as some of the newest smartphones or tablets, its hardware is just as viable to handle every game or app on Android, iOS or windows Phone. None of the apps yet to date on the app store's already do not take full advantage of Arm Core chipsets multiple cores and GPU's that smart phones or tablets had even 2 to 3 Years ago. B) the cost effective method now would be for Sony to make xperia and other. Smart phones the Target through a unified App being built that support living room Game pad support for DS3 and DS4 game pad support for your Tablet/smartphone and call it a day. C) PSvita and PSTv still has support because the chipsets are still Arm Cortex, but as for making a replacement to the existing PSVita I doubt it at this point. it make more financial sense to go that route for Sony's portable moving forward. It is about selling the software, and playstation Software being Sold on an App store environment for iOS, and Android but all Playstation Games go through a Playstation App. Is no doubt far more attractive than to Try yet again to make a dent into the dedicated game handheld market share for again to etch out small market share % when 1) Nintendo has the lions share of the market. 2) whats left is Sony being the only other company to etch out such numbers for a far distant 2nd place. Where no other dedicated game handheld even comes close to Sony's 2nd largets % let alone Nintendo's 1st. C) after whats left Smartphones and Tablets such as those made by Apple and samsung have pretty much take such massive numbers / Sales Quarter that pretty much all major 3rd party publishers and development studios make their games mainly for smartphones and tablets 1st. And if viable dedicated game handheld consoles 2nd if it even gets a port from a smartphone or tablet port. example: GTA San Andreas is on IOS, and Android but yet is not on the 3DS or the PSVita!
Funny thing is is that the PSV dev kit has an HDMI out port, so it's not like the hardware isn't already made for it.
