GameStop and Sony Computer Entertainment just announced with a joint press release that the two companies are teaming up to support Ronald McDonald House Charities.
That's...actually very cool :)
Its always great to hear feel good stories like these. Good work to both Sony and the McDonalds charity.
Dammit Sony why are you being so generous lately!! Keep up the good work guys! Good on you as well gamespot. And you too Ronald McDonald lol
Helping people in anyway is good thing .
Good on ya Sony!
McDonald's games top and sony....really giving consoles to families in need?
I have a massive problem with Ronald mcdonald charity, but that's pretty damn good of Sony to do this. Something so small like that could brighten a lot of lives
That is nice and all but they should be giving the kids food and clothes. Any child that is actually "in need" of something, isn't in need of a PS4.
Agreed. Child's Play should just shut down right now. All the people donating to things like that should actually be giving food and clothes to kids. These families who have to spend days at a time away from home, caring for they're sick children can tough it out. Hell, McDonald's should just give them rental tents and call it a day. Put the money wasted on making people confortable towards food and clothes for children. Oh, won't somebody please think of the children!
So you're saying these children aren't in need of some fun time that would help them take their minds off.Of what they're going through?you people freaking sicken me with your lame remarks.
Sony is a very fierce competitor in the video game world but .... Also has heart and is very charitable . good on you Sony!
I think they should manufacture Shu Plushies and give them out and sell them for charities. Who wouldnt want one of them?
I'd hug that thing daily. Is it weird that I just want to give Shu a hug? He just seems so nice. Although at PSX on the Morpheus panel they did mention that he's softened a great deal since having children. He was kind of fierce and intimidating prior to his children they said lol.
Its not weird, its not weird at all. Who wouldnt hug Shu?
This "hobby " of ours obviously means a great deal to us here on this forum page, and if you look at the stats, it means a great deal to millions of others. It is MY personal first choice in entertainment, and I would imagine it is to many of you too. So, to those who feel buying these for families that are away from home to be there for a sick child, and I'm assuming some children never get to go back home, and I'd also assume some of those families have other healthy children, what better way do you feel they should spend their time? As it was stated earlier, " watch paint dry?". I say good looking out by all those involved.
i certainly appreciate the sentiment but at the same time it underscores a shortsightedness and lack of true priorities. "lets give all these needy people ps4's so we even have an install base in the demographic of people that can't afford these luxury items and call it a step toward normalcy... instead of useful things like actual computers or tablets they can use for education, studying and being a part of the connected world etc... I'm sure sony has a lot of those sitting around in a warehouse somewhere collecting dust. people could put those things to use. medical care, social services etc...
"Sorry to hear about your sick brother or sister, kids. We know you're stuck here, far from home so that you and your parents can be closer to your sibling while in the hospital, and we want to make you feel at home. But instead of playing video games to pass the time and have some fun during what must be a truly terrible, emotionally draining time in your lives, here's a tablet you can use to study! Because priorities! Enjoy!"
To correct, they are NOT giving ps4's to INDIVIDUALS, but they are put permanently in the Ronald McDonald's homes and/or apt's. Also, they are furnished ect.. seems like every negative comment here doesn't get this fact.
Sounds awesome. Have kids you can't afford. Live off welfare and now, along with subsidized food and healthcare off the backs of hard workers, give them PS4s. Sounds like a great plan. Seriously, what's the incentive to improve when you can get food, healthcare, AND NOW GAMING RECREATION for being poor?
Wow, really? I had a friend who's family had to stay there. But truth be told, they probably should have budgeted better so they could afford their kid's heart transplant, and the numerous amputations resulting from complications, and ponied up for a months' worth of hotel bills near the hospital, like a responsible family, instead of freeloading. We're all just a bunch of enablers. And what's even worse, corporations are now allowing people milking these programs to have a little fun while enjoying their luxury stay at these Ronald McDonald houses. Thanks Obama.
On the bright side, they can always claim to be better people than you.
To correct, again, they are NOT giving ps4's to individuals, but they are put permanently in the Ronald McDonald's homes and/or apt's . Also, well off people stay there too!
Some of you just sound like idiots. My son was in NICU for a week and a half and there was a 48 hour period where we thought we were gonna lose him. Having a ps4 in the room we were staying in could have served as a great distraction to the non stop stress we were under. Its not about sony thinking they have the answer they're just doing what they can to assist in any way.
Some of these idiots in here will never understand something like that because they dont understand what its like to care for something more than you care for yourself. Theyre somehow turning even this into a "my console is better than your console" thing and while I'm not a person whose easily offended or disgusted, frankly sometimes humanity makes me shake my head. I hope your sons good.
I honestly don't see anything wrong with what Sony is doing. And I'm surprised that there are people willing to hate on everything that Sony does even if its for charity. It really shows how monstrous those people can be. Anyways I hope your kid is doing well.
Best wishes to your son, brother. That can't be an easy thing.
Huh... The same individuals complaining about "Sony fanboys" trolling positive Xbox One articles are in here doing the same thing, but it's the charity edition. Not to mention the edits because you jokers couldn't be bothered to READ the articles first; you just looked at the headlines and jumped at the opportunity to criticize a rival company for doing a good thing. Let this be a lesson for you all to read first. If I had to put a gaming spin on this, I guess "thirst must be quenched through hypocrisy". How did you all even wander into this topic in the first place? I'm not taking sides, but you're pretty hopeless people. I hope with all my hope that you are children because this would not reflect well on adults with fully developed rational thought. Good luck and grow up, please.
