PS3's Flower is an enchanting experience (Ars Technica)

Ben Kuchera writes:

""If flOw was a haiku, Flower is a poem," Rusty Buchert, the Senior Producer of the game tells me as I watch thatgamecompany's Jenova Chen play the game. It's amazingly fluid-you tilt the Dual Shock 3 to control a swirl of flower petals as they fly around a world that seems to only be made of brilliantly animated blades of grass and sky. I'm handed the controller and told to put on headphones; the music in the game is just as important as the graphics."

Sony is beginning to announce way too many games now while Microsoft appears to be running out of'em. This is a good thing but a bad thing for my wallet. I need a job.

I love how because MS now has a multiplatform title that was previously a PS3 exclusive, many people declare MS the "Winner of E3", even though the bulk of MS's conference consisted of ripoffs of other ideas on other systems.

Back on topic: I think that anything ThatGameCompany does is magic. This game will be just as effective at zoning me out as flOw was!

oh please, its a game about flowers! im sorry but sony fans seem all too happy to back and buy any old game if its sony exclusive, like viva pinata is too girly but LBP and games about flowers are real games for grown ups and hardcore ps3 players....im going to be sick

It sounds like you are taking a rather narrow-minded approach to this. Sure you are a flower, but you have to look at this game as more of an artistic viewpoint. Besides, when did anyone ever say games like flOw and flOwer were for hardcore gamers? If anything, they are far from it. They are meant as relaxing experiences, and judging from the ARS Technica previewer's response, everything will be favorable whenever the game actually comes out.

BTW, nothing on this game has even really been released other than preview articles like this. Why don't you wait till it's released and reviewed, or even more info released before passing judgement. Or are you going to be the typical fanboy you are and make an ignorant statement without even playing this? I bet if it were released on XBL you would be changing your tune, saying how "innovative MS's XBLA games are!"

Taken from your profile:

"im actually from New Zealand, and dont call me a fanboy! ive had nearly every console ova the years, some ive like and some not so much, if i say i do or dont like somthing its the truth and not a retarded fanboy view

my choice this generation tho is the 360, i know its got its faults but i think the games sure make up for them!
and im not like some of the other people on here that try to force there views on others"

Why don't you practice what you preach?

fair comment, and while my comment wasnt aimed so much at the game but the actual behaviour of other people (and sorry but yes i do mean sony fans)

it seems verry acceptible for sony fans to say banjo viva or really any other MS game will be rubbish but then they back up games like this and LBP, and yes LBP looks....ok, but it still makes no sence to me.

read through my other comments you will find im not a fanboy at all, i admit MS can be really crap sometimes, but so can sony, i also admit that i will get a ps3 at the next price drop because i like a couple of the exclusives, dont just cut and paste my bio and say im a fanboy because i assure you i am not, i just have an oppinion...and theres nothing wrong with that.

I'm going straight to the point about the FF13 multiplatform case:

It ruined the SONY relationship

It disappointed many fans

SONY depended on them to make a great game, to help improve the sales and reptutation of the PS3

Exclusives that tend to go Multi looses interests

Ruined the Playstation exclusive trademark

Becoming like Capcom(no need for further explanation)

Gave one less reason to own a PS3, which it was the PS2 and PS1 that gave Square Enix where they are now.

Showed they cared more about money than loyalty

Slowing down the FF13 Verses development

May question themselves about the storage space and specs they are using when developing FF13

They are looking to seem to betraying another company(like when they ditched Nintendo)

Gave something the Xbox fanboys to cheer and make fun of to the Sony fanboys

Making themselves look foolish when they made statements like, "We are arent looking forward for Final Fantasy games on different platforms". " The PS3 suits Final Fantasy 13".

Made another foolish statement saying it was to reduce the fanboyism, and yet, Last Remnant is a 360 timed exclusive, Infinite Discovery and Star Ocean are 360 exclusives.

And other foolish statement when they said FF13 multi was because of the install base, but then why is FF13 verses a PS3 exclusive? hmmmmm

I am kinda concern about this game (studio). Do they sell enough copies to cover the time this game been in Production?

I feel like they don't sell enough copies to cover the expenses.

PirateThom3656d ago

Well, they initially gave Cloud and Flow away for free online, so the payment from Sony and any sales are more than their past games.
