Why Battlefront Isn't Just a Battlefield Clone

IGN: "Shortly after Star Wars: Battlefront's E3 reveal, DICE's Patrick Bach told IGN it wouldn't be a Battlefield game. At Star Wars Celebration this week, we asked the studio why, exactly, this isn't just a re-skin of the iconic multiplayer series."

The story is too old to be commented.

I'm still excited , but until the gameplay is revealed , things get clearer about the changes , all those interviews about how it's not just Battlefield in a Star Wars setting ,makes it harder to believe it's not Battlefield in a Star Wars setting .

I imagine there's a good reason they didn't want anyone to see gameplay footage, and instead pushed out "game engine footage" instead. The fact we're now getting a bunch of PR/marketing nonsense regurgitated by sites like IGN doesn't help, either.

Yeah it's nice that they've seen the gameplay proving that it's not , and that it's awesome but ...

1 . IGN is basically a PR platform that only turns on its benefactors at release . Even at release they dont if they got some deal going on .

2 . Till they keep the footage for themselves , wich is their right obviously , people's imagination will keep running rampant . Especially with the poor rep they had lately at EA (and Dice)

I suspect it's because it resembles the BF1942 user created game conversion Galactic Conquest (which was excellent).

Even if it was just Battlefield with a Star Wars skin, that would still make for an awesome game. Especially when it looks as cool as it does.

DICE in the past has been capable of creating brilliant games. EA's not going to want to f up their big debut with Star Wars, so I trust that they've give DICE the creative freedom to make a stellar Battlefront game.

Yeah wich is why i'm still excited . Truth be told the only thing that bums me so far , is the lack of space , when we all dreamt obviously of seamingless transition from space to planet surfaces .

Of course it would be tricky on both the technical and balance sides , even if possible

That's what we have Star Citizen for :)

Yes but not in a Star Wars setting :p

Why you shouldnt write an article before actually playing the game

Dudebro90915d ago

Cept its pointing to being exactly that....so...

I'm cautiously optimistic, but I can't believe a word of what they say until we see some real gameplay footage or actually play it.

Im even more worried about this game after today. Worried that this is fact just a BF4 mod. We havent seen any gameplay but from what ive seen and read it looks like they arent trying anything ambitious due to the rapid development this game needs in order to hit the holiday 2015 release date. If DICE had more time they could have flexed their creative muscles and delivered us something we havent seen before. But Disney and EA want this game out before the movie so they can make as much money as possible. Im sure with the tight schedule they had, content was left out for DLC or sequels. EA signed this deal in May 2013 so that leaves DICE with just 2.5 years to make this game.

Would have loved to see to have battles that take place in both space and on the ground like we saw the in the leaked battlefront 3 gameplay. Forget trying to look pretty. Turn the graphics down a little bit, bump up the player count and let us have huge, epic battles. Who wouldnt want to lead a squadron to blow up the shield generator then take the battle to space and blow up the Empire fleet then the Death Star itself. Or battling to control capture points in space and on the ground.

Plus why havent we heard anything about destruction for this game?? You would think they would talk about that to hype the game up even more.
