Are engine improvements and DirectX 11 support worth revisiting this punishing RPG for?
VGChartz's Issa Maki: "I want to appreciate Dark Souls II on the same level as its predecessor, Demon's Souls, or Bloodborne. Yet every time I open myself up to the possibility, my hopes are dashed by small design quirks that eventually add up to a sum of infuriating disappointment. How can a game that improves on the past in so many intriguing ways be held back by issues that never previously existed? Why does Dark Souls II seem to sabotage any sense of enjoyment it creates, just out of sheer spite against the player? Was this conduct on behalf of the developers justifiable in some way – and possibly even necessary? Prepare to quaff some Estus and burn an effigy or two in our likenesses, for we journey once again to the land of Drangleic."
Dark Souls tweets: "PvP servers for Dark Souls 3, Dark Souls 2, and Dark Souls: Remastered have been temporarily deactivated to allow the team to investigate recent reports of an issue with online services.
Servers for Dark Souls: PtDE will join them shortly.
We apologize for this inconvenience."

hmm both the PS4 & XONE looks the same to me but the Xone looks like it has better colors in some places still looking good at 60FPS
To be perfectly honest? I didn't see much difference at all. That much should be expected though. It's a port of a last-gen game with better-understood console architectures.
The only differences I really saw were the woven-knit textures look a bit more vivid on PlayStation 4, but the character's hair was darker on PS4 too. Not sure which one of them needs to be color-corrected, but this isn't going to stoke any fanboy flames. An even match, I'd say.
Side note: am I the only one who thinks Dark Souls II looks incredibly weird at 60fps? The motion is more clear, and I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion, but I think I would rather play this game at 30fps. Not buying this game since I already beat it last year, but yeah, I think the doubled frame rate is a bit off-putting on a Souls game.
I'm sure it's just me.
Still not was promised during the E3 gameplay demo. :(
They both look about the same, I've read that the X1 is closer to 50 frames than 60 in places. As for the interior lighting in general though, it looks so bad, at 3:23 they walk down that corridor and it looks flat as hell, its not even an old game. Oblivion had much better looking interiors and that game is almost 10 years old.
I'm more concerned about the graphical improvment over last gen, and it doesn't seem bad at all. To be able to play on ds4 and at 60fps at that will made for a really improved experience as well.
