Bloodborne Review | Entertainment Buddha

Ray Porreca of Entertainment Buddha writes: "There is something special about Bloodborne. From Software’s latest title, exclusive to the PlayStation 4, is undoubtedly the best game of the year. Sublime in its architecture and engaging in its game design, Bloodborne is an atmospheric journey that is destined to leave a lasting impression on all who spend the time exploring its Gothic setting."

Such a fantastic game, brutal but fair in every way.

I Love the atmosphere in this game!

I may have to get over my fear of "souls" style games and give this one a go. Too many high review scores not to check it out.

Do it!

If you spend the time leaning how to play it, its worth the time.

I never played a "souls" game until this…and I LOVE it!!!!

Having never played a "Souls" game I was ready to get rid of the game after the first couple hours…I HATED it & it was because I was playing the game like it would bend to my will. And I promise you, this game will torture you until you learn to play by BloodBorne's rules. But after those couple hours, I learned the Bloodborne way of combat & I'm ADDICTED

I absolutely loved coming across notes that said this, and it is the truth.
For me, it was the very first boss that made me rage quit the game, I turned off my ps4, put down the controller, and was about to eject the disc. after an hour or so to cool off, went back to the game, found a few really cool notes left on the ground, and kicked that boss's ass.

The part I neglected to mention was the fact that I quit my ps4, and loaded up AC: black flag on PC. I never had gotten the chance to play the game and finally spent time with it. I strolled around a bit, and then stopped.
After a combat encounter where I swiftly took out a dozen men with little effort, I became enraged with myself.

As much as I love Black Flag so far, I refuse to be put down after one sitting with Bloodborne. I loaded it up on my PS4 and went from level 10 to level 39 in a matter of a few days.

Must say that I am happy with my choice.
Unfortunately, it now means that I crave games that present a challenge. Where "winning" the game is not a guarantee; the game owes you nothing. You are not entitled to success just because you've "played games" before and "know the drill."

I swear to people that Bloodborne has reinvigorated my love for gaming. Flawless combat mechanics, beautiful visuals with a staggeringly unique art style, all within a world that is pulsating with life.

It's a game where you are entitled to nothing, and that's how it should be: a 60 hour under -dog story that compels you to be at your very best, as anything else will guarantee certain death.

It would be wise for the HAMM3RofBUDDHA to heed the words of the Entertainment Buddha.

It is hard to quantify, but although it shares much with the Souls games, it feels different enough that I think you will be fine jumping in.

Maxor1203d ago

This is the easiest Souls game to get into. You are no longer hollowed after death and the health regain mechanic is a god send for noobs. You can do it.

Difficulty can definitely be a good thing. No one shits on Contra because its ridiculously hard.

tacotruck1203d ago

As far as I am concerned, there is nothing better than the feeling of overcoming a tough game.

Absolutely lovely game. Though if you never played a souls game, don't go into one playing it like you play bloodborne. Both games are night and day apart.

snowbearder1203d ago (Edited 1203d ago )

I never played a souls game, so I'm kinda hyped to hear this is one is ok to not have that prior experience
