Random party banter does not equal compelling story. Not even close.

Hearing that someone has such a confusion between the two only answers why RPG stories have become so poor: no recognition of what a story is.

There is 0 Story in the demo what else do you want him to talk about ?
And radom party banters does not equal a non compelling story but adds a lot of characters developement easly .

At the very least I would expect that random character banter not be treated as if it were important to the overall story. That it wasn't mistaken for being the overall story.

It's actually because the party banter was extremely well written, and funny at times. It showed that the chemistry between the characters is really strong and well defined. It's one of the reasons that XIII's attempts to be story driven fell on it's ass because the chemistry between those characters wasn't strong.

FF13's issue was there was no connection between its world and characters. There was even disconnect between the game and players.

And given that such stems from a dev claim, that towns didn't matter, it makes me doubt gaming related PR in general. Since "dualshock wasn't needed".
