I saw the writing on the wall with Devolve, a shame as I was really looking forward to it before they started announcing their DLC plans, I suspect a ton of folks did the same as I and just canceled their Pre-orders.

No, the problem is the game really has nothing to offer but a single game mode and tries to sell you on that with sugar coating at a full AAA price + DLC.

Before I even knew of any DLC i knew i wouldnt buy the game as its just a Single game mode at the very core of it. 4v1? Even free to play games offer more than that.

I played this type of game mode in Alien vs Predator its called Predator hunter so its nothing new or innovative to me.

I'm just glad it failed cause now Devs will know not to try sell crap like this at a full AAA price.

This, though I think the restrictive class system also played a role in making the game more frustrating than fun.

Whats the point of forcing every team to have a medic, trapper, attacker, etc if you force people to do roles they either don't know or want to play and ultimately don't accomplish them? Sure a 2 attack, no medic team will be weaker, but no weaker than a 1 attack and 1 medic team with both playing attack.

No, I canceled my pre order after the beta. There just wasn't anything compelling enough to warrent $60. it should have been free to play when you factor in the DLC though.

Same for me, several friends bought it day one and I was "What?" I test it several times and was bored to death by that game, I told them to return it before the game cost nothing, now they're telling me how I was totally right about the game.

Dota, League of Legends, World of Walcarft, and Starcraft are MMOs and MOBAs with so much content. This game is neither an MMO or a MOBA. It's justa MP only game with little content to play for years. Counter Strike may be the exception considering how popular it's been for years.

Yup. And now that servers for titles are dying sooner & sooner, all of those people who bought Evolve will be left w/ a blank space or a coaster in a year or two's time. People talk about mp creating replayibility, but when your lobbies are empty w/in a month & your game is dead in the water not long after, forget your replay ability, you won't even have 'playability'…at least a good offline single player component can be played for eternity, all mp has an expiration date that gets closer & closer to release.

What killed it for me were two things, the ridiculous price for the dlc and no single player. This game screams single player. They could have had the option of 2-4 player coop or solo with just your character against the behemoths. Titanfall has suffered the exact same fate in my eyes. Both games would have been amazing with single and multiplayer experiences with single player dlc to add longevity. Hope these and future developers learn from this because there are many single player video gamers out there like myself who prefer playing solo.

Totally agree with you, multiplayer-only games are boring, and tend to get old quickly. I prefer SP games, so games like Titanfail and Evolve, with no SP modes at all, just aren't worth it to me.

i disagree that multiplayer games are boring. i have over 2000 hours into warhawk and over 700 hours in pvz garden warfare. Both only online games. Obviously it depends on the person but I do prefer both singleplayer and online. I prefer online a little more becuase its way more satifying to me to kill a player then a NPC. And the only singleplayer games that can give me close those hours above are RPG games like fallout and skyrim.

Not sure if that means much. From Steam, I just compared it to Alien Isolation and Evolve has only slightly less with 3,332 to 3,562. Only about 500 less compared to Far Cry 4

If this was a F2P game or at least had a significantly lower price point it would be greatly embraced. I think the concept is there, but the pricing is outrageous.

Tried the beta for a few hrs, shockingly slow and boring, I fear we'll end up with a pointless ps plus month with evolve at somepoint, won't even bother then either lol, hope they learn from this though.

I am not at all surprised, if you could look back at my comments on this title I kneW it wouldn't last long, the concept was ok for a game mode but not a full retail game, then there was the Dlc come on now

I haven't played this game, but does it have a monster vs monster (1 on 1) mode?
If not that could give the game some legs, be relatively easy for them to create and would be like a cool fighting game with huge arenas, also reminds me of something like Primal Rage lol

Seems that enjoyment based on chance (that is: possibly getting a good team and possibly versing a good monster player) is not a good plan for ongoing, consistent entertainment.

Evolve's dlc model is garbage. That said I think the game is awesome. I feel like most people think hunt mode is the only mode in the game. I mostly play evacuation which is a 5 round game, that mixes in the modes hunt, nest, and rescue modes. It's ends with a defend mode. I get the hate for the dlc model, but I still think the game is alot of fun.
