IGN:"Now that Zelda Wii U has been delayed, we pontificate on Nintendo's plan for the rest 2015."
Xenoblade Chronicles X. Nuff Said.
My thoughts exactly.
Imagine they made to leave 2015 to Xenoblade X , might be possible.
But wait. Aren't they gonna be doomed, like Sony without Uncharted? Huh? You mean these companies put out more than one game a year, so even if it's a pretty big title, they'll still be okay? Whew, what a relief.
Xenoblade looks like it has a great open world with cool enemy design, but the auto combat turns me off. The animations of it don't look very good and auto combat is one of the worst combat adaptations in gaming. I want it to be good and prove me wrong though. I just can't get behind the combat system.
* My guess is they have another surprise for us at E3 and that should hold us over until LoZ 2016.
Devil's Third and Rodea should be good too.
Seriously, Xenoblade Chronicles X all by itself is going to dominate the Game of the Year chatter. Now add in Star Fox, Rodea the Sky Soldier, Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Maker and Devil's Third and it's looking like a landslide even without Zelda. It's just such a shame that mainstream gamers aren't buying the Wii U when Nintendo is dropping so much quality. What else does Nintendo have to do to make some sales? Give away free full body massages from Miyamoto-san?
As much as I personally like the Wii U, I suspect many potential owners would need that full body massage to come with a "happy ending" before they'd bite. It's a shame because the quality of the games is outstanding but Nintendo have made so many missteps with everything else.
I don't know man Bloodborne, The Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight will get get a lot of GOTY attention as well. As good as X looks it's not dominating GOTY this year.
whats a xenoblade chronicles
Star Fox Xenoblade Chronicles X Devil's Third Splatoon Yoshi's Woolly World
Shh, the naysayers will be angry! Good list though.
I'd like to plug in any surprises too. Captain Toad was a solid game announced and released in the same year.
I would like a new animal crossing. No DS stuff! I swear they give too many IPs to their handheld. They need to find a balance.
devil's third will be awesome and starfox is one of my favorite ips, better for me with all these games coming out this year (mgsv,halo5,batman,witcher 3,devils third, starfox, starwars battlefront etc..) and not enough time because of work its nice to save some for 2016...and who knows maybe they want to do something with it for nintendo nx...
As a Wii U owner I'm extremely disappointed in the delay. No doubt it's been moved to be a NX launch title. There are some good games coming out this year but Zelda was the reason I bought the system. For Nintendo to win back this consumer with the NX they better bring a system more powerful than a PS4, a full library of VC titles AT LAUNCH (not this 1 a week trickle out Bullshit), excellent online support and 3rd party support.
They will show Metroid at E3 ;)
I'm actually hoping for that. With the absence of Zelda, they would need something to fill in the void. BOOM! metroid.... i hope. >.>
People just need to take a step back. Nintendo is on a mission with the next Zelda and if they need extra time to make it the best they should be given it. Who are we to say it's wrong for them to do this when it's OK for games to be delayed on the PS4 and XBox one.
I'm not surprised of the delay since it happens to every Zelda game if you look back at their history. At least this year we have Xenoblade Chronicles X to keep us Wii U owners occupied, and of course there's Splatoon, Devil's Third, Star Fox, and Mario Maker (Did I missed other Wii U titles?) Ever since Nintendo confirmed Zelda Wii U won't make it to show for E3 is devastating. But I've said this before, the more they polish the game and all, I rather wait for them to take their time. Nintendo needs to throw their bomb-ombs for E3 of surprises they have in store.
The same thing they do every year Zelda doesn't come out... Make more games. Like, really? Zelda has always been sporadic in its entries.
So tired of waiting for nintendo to release games, Im gonna go back to my xbox one.
Nice troll comment. As if you couldn't turn on your Xbox One even if Zelda came out. As if you weren't going to turn anything on until 4th quarter anyways.
This leaves Nintendo with a very meager selection of games for 2015, really not enough to begin to sustain the Wii U. Shame that Nintendo gimped the console so badly, it's simply unable to compete this generation. Let's hope that the NX isn't based on a gimmick like most Nintendo products for the last decade or so. If it is, they're through with gaming hardware. Which might actually be a good thing, they really don't know how to design good hardware anymore, they should just go software only.
When Iwata said that NX would "surprise" gamers, I think that surprise may be that they are going to provide a super powerful system with NO gimmicks. THAT would be surprising to me. Nintendo has always had the so-called "weaker" hardware but still the best games. Imagine for a sec that they had the best of both worlds. Nintendo games, but super powerful hardware that is on par or better than the other guys. Would Nintendo be in this position if they had a system with specs and features in line with the others? If I could get all the 3rd party titles (Mordor, GTA, CoD, Destiny, etc) at the same quality as X1 I likely wouldnt own an X1. I know this much. I do still think that, some day, the Nintendo and Playstation brands will be together, but not in the way people think. Playstation was almost the CD add-on for N64 originally and Sony has been in some financial trouble. Its not a pipe dream, its a very feasible scenario, albeit one that would be far down the road. Or, if Ninty were to go develop for other platforms, would they really go multiplat? I dont think so. They would likely stick with their Japanese counterpart, Sony.
Nintendo doesn't really dabble in gimmicks. Gimmicks are often abandoned shortly after their inception. Last I recall, their entire consoles recently have revolved around some innovation that sticks with them and is incorporated throughout. That said, Kinect and PS Move are more akin to gimmicks. Morpheus and HoloLens are still anyone's guess. If they're rightly made and adopted by developers with sustained support, I wouldn't hurry to call that a gimmick either.
"Nintendo doesn't really dabble in gimmicks. Gimmicks are often abandoned shortly after their inception." LOL, sure they don't: -- 3D effect in 3DS, gimmick that most people just turn off (even on the new 3DS, it doesn't work that well). -- 2nd screen on 3DS, gimmick that simply drags down the overall quality of the system (since they had to include the useless 2nd screen, which took resources away from the handheld itself). -- Wiimote+nunchuk motion control gimmick on the Wii, caught on as a fad with casuals but was quickly abandoned, and the Wii itself died years ago when the fad fizzled out (while the 360 and PS3 have still been going strong all those years). -- The gamepad that comes with the Wii U is a distracting, bulky, awkward gimmick that doesn't add much (if anything) to playing games on a TV, but again drained resources away from the Wii U base console, making it unable to compete at all this generation. Nintendo doesn't "dabble" in gimmicks, they actually base all their gaming hardware on them, so in that area you're right. But based on the failure of the Wii U and their need to keep releasing new revisions to the 3DS to boost sagging sales, these gimmicks clearly are no longer enough for gamers.
"-- 3D effect in 3DS, gimmick that most people just turn off (even on the new 3DS, it doesn't work that well)." "Most people"? Do you KNOW "most people" with a 3DS? Overgeneralization and I'd like to add that I have a New 3DS. It works fine. "-- 2nd screen on 3DS, gimmick that simply drags down the overall quality of the system (since they had to include the useless 2nd screen, which took resources away from the handheld itself)." No. Just no. The second screen has been utilized in creative ways that actually work. It *can* be useless if used incorrectly, but it has some useful applications. "-- Wiimote+nunchuk motion control gimmick on the Wii, caught on as a fad with casuals but was quickly abandoned, and the Wii itself died years ago when the fad fizzled out (while the 360 and PS3 have still been going strong all those years)." Nope! Wasn't abandoned; the motion controls were used very frequently throughout the Wii's life. Motion controls + nunchuck are even supported by Wii U. Try again. "-- The gamepad that comes with the Wii U is a distracting, bulky, awkward gimmick that doesn't add much (if anything) to playing games on a TV, but again drained resources away from the Wii U base console, making it unable to compete at all this generation." No, all wrong, no. Windwaker HD? Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker? The functions are supported with EVERY Wii U game in some capacity. How is that a gimmick? All things considered, all you've presented are opinions that overgeneralize and come off as grossly misinformed. Say what you will about their hardware, but Nintendo is at least trying very hard to give you something different every time instead of focusing on raw power. I'm predominantly a PlayStation gamer, but credit where it is due. You talk about 3DS sales sagging, and yet it's already over half the sales of the leading console (Wii) last generation. You also cannot confirm the reasons why the Wii U is performing poorly in terms of sales, only estimate. I'm sure a fair amount of people still think it's an attachment a la Sega CD (if you're old enough to recall). Use some facts next time, not personal experience (assuming you have any).
Wish I could be there when you stumble on the Morpheus cord and your Move waggle wands go flying..
I was really looking forward to this game. :(
The struggles of a Zelda fan... Are you new at this? I almost broke my Gamecube when they delayed Twilight Princess in order to make the damn Wii versions! And Skyward Sword was a painful wait that made it hard for me to enjoy the final product. That delay didnt pay off IMO, lets hope this one does!
Splatoon and Xenoblade. Hopefully StarFox makes it this year. Probably not, but maybe.
MMM lets see Xenoblade Chronicles X Starfox Splatoon Yoshis Wolly World Kirby and the rainbow curse Mario Maker Devils Third Project Cars Shall I go on LOL
They already have quite a number of exclusives lined up, and that's just what we KNOW about. They've already said time and again that there are a number of UNANNOUNCED titles that we can definitely expect by E3. People, chill.
Xenoblade X my most hyped game. Looking forward to Splatoon and Devils Third as well and Rodea. Some other games for Wii U some my be hyped for like Starfox and Yoshi Wooly World and Mario Maker.
Honestly a bit disappointed, but this opens the door for a Zelda HD Collection. Seriously, give me HD versions of Twilight Princess and Skyward sword with a "regular" control option and Ill be set with my Zelda fix for the year. Hell, throw in HD versions of the 3ds remakes of OoT and MM for good measure and that's more than enough to ease the pain of this delay. As disappointed as I am though, I know that good things seem to happen whenever Nintendo delays their titles. Ive got plenty to play on my XB1 in the meantime and Im sure Nintendo will have some pretty heavy hitters this year as well. Still a damn good time to be a gamer. All this competition is raising the stakes, so companies need to make damn sure they are releasing the game that fans want and deserve. At least Nintendo still gets it.
The new Zelda should be released on the Nintendo NX. It will be a wasted opportunity if it is released for the Wii U. The sad truth is it is simply to late for the Wii U and while releasing this new Zelda on the Wii U would be great for the current WiiU owners it would be a major boost for the Nintendo NX if it were to be a launch game on Nintendos next home console.
I feel one way Nintendo could make it up to us is by giving us a Twilight Princess HD Remake with the same graphics from the tech demo
