Not saying anything bad about FF15 but it's not that hard to beat FF13.

I think we knew this would be better then FF13 from the day after FF13 released and disappointed us.

sobotz3318d ago

Cross your fingers, FF13 looks good too when it was announced.

the_dark_one3318d ago (Edited 3318d ago )

True but in ff15 we already got some gameplay taste of what to expect on the final version. I played every ff game from VI and i might be on the minory when i say i kinda liked FF 13, Not perfect by any means but enjoyable

ArchangelMike3317d ago (Edited 3317d ago )

I don't think SqEnix can afford for FFXV to fail. Not just in terms of their development costs and stock holders, but also because their reputation is on the line (it's the same way that Ubisoft have slowly eroded customer trust over the last year) If FFXV fails, it is unlikely that SqEnix will have another really succesfull Final Fantasy game for a very very long time.

elninels3317d ago

I played the ffxv demo. Did everything to do in it. Im so crazy excited for it.

The combat can be easy to grasp, but takes a little longer to master. Ideally we won't be prompted to parry and instead have to figure it out.

SPOILER

I hope the summons get changed. Ramuh has an awesome cinematic, but it's also a get out of jail free card, no work required.

MRMagoo1233317d ago

the opening 10 minutes of tetris beat ff13 so thats not saying much

UNKLE3317d ago (Edited 3317d ago )

"10 Minutes Already Beats all of FF 13"
This is only your opinion... well i enjoyed ff15 demo its great game! because of freedom and gameplay except the horrible boring battlesystem but i cannot feel the final fantasy game style while ff13 was very final fantasy-sh-game except the gameplay was too short and too linear but still i think its more ff game than ff15. And ff15 characters is not better than ff13 characters was in my opinion. Both game have good and irritating characters.

WeAreLegion3317d ago

I prefer XV's battle system. It doesn't take me out of the game like turn-based combat.

kingdomtriggers3317d ago

Dang you already got an advanced copy of FFXV and know that the characters aren't as good as the FF13 cast (LOL)? Also the battle system is already more involving than most final fantasy games and this is without the magic system, gambit system, aerial combat, and tons of other stuff.

elninels3317d ago

Exactly. What we got in the demo is the bare bones of the combat. I still felt it was engaging.

MRMagoo1233317d ago

"ff13 was very final fantasy-sh-game" stopped reading right there and lost all hope that you may have a clue. FF13 was nothing like a final fantasy game besides the name it had, it was a corridor shooter for the most part, I even tried some peoples theory out when they said you could be the game with auto and it actually worked, not once did I have to think about a fight, if you can remember that far back , think about the first boss you fought in ff7 the scorpion robot and how that simple boss was better than anything in ff13 let alone all other bosses in ff games ever.

averagejoe263317d ago (Edited 3317d ago )

Not to mention the fact that the summons were vehicles.

Shiva was a f#&-king motorcycle. A MOTORCYCLE. I have never been more embarrassed playing a FF title then when I was playing XIII.

Something being "turn based" isn't what makes a game a Final Fantasy. It's the atmosphere, the epic scale, the story, the magic, the summons... Which XIII did terribly.

FF14 is not turn based and is way more of a FF than 13 will ever be. Hell, you can make a racing game the right way that will feel more Final Fantasy than XIII if the elements are right.

Shinuz3317d ago

This game really runs at 60fps? I didn't know that.

elninels3317d ago

It doesn't. The demo hitches a lot actually. And its not 1080 either. Also had many jagged and things blurred at not to great of distances. Thats the target for the retail release. This is just a demo. Still a long way to go.

I doubt we end up with 60fps, but its final fantasy, anything above 30 is gravy. it definitely does felt like a "nextgen" final fantasy.

Can't wait to see what this home console jrpg surprise will be from square.

Shinuz3317d ago

Cool, let's just hope they managed to make it run at 60fps.
I know its not an action game or anything but more fps is always better.

Cryptcuzz3317d ago (Edited 3317d ago )

Can't wait to see what this home console jrpg surprise will be from square.

They teased another home console JRPG surprise? On what platform do you know?

F0XHOUND3317d ago

...... why continuously bring up XIII? A stupid comparison which is just your opinion, an opinion based from 10 minutes vs a full game. Granted, you dislike 13 but how do you really know you will love 15 after the length of the demo?

Personally, 13 was a food game.... but one best left in the past, its not a top 10 final fantasy game, but its not awful. 15 looks fantastic, the demo was awesome and I'm positive it will more than likely rank well. It has the visuals, it has the soundtrack, it obviously has the open world feel combined with a cool quest system and an evolved battle system.... all we need is a solid story and a strong cast... which so far seems to be so!

A future classic I'd say! So I agree with the article, just not its silly comparison!

Vanfernal3317d ago

Well to be fair, this game was originally Final Fantasy Versus XIII. That's why all the comparisons are coming up.

johny53317d ago (Edited 3317d ago )

I think it diffidently looks better then FFXIII, which isn't that hard to top IMHO. The problem I have with the current Final Fantasy games is that too many are placing style over substance. This is one of the problems I had with XIII. I don't mind stylized characters, but when every game has the characters looking like they steped out of a failed K-Pop band, it gets tiring.

In FFXIII's case, I find it unatural and highly unlikely for a Women who looks like she just stepped off a runway fashion show to be physically fighting guys twice her size, let alone giant monsters. Equally unrealistic is her not getting raped in the process. It's hard to feel sympathetic towards a Women who looks like she walked out a salon ready for battle! It's amusing actually...

A realistic heroin is someone like Deunan Knute from Appleseed, but of course, FFXIII wouldn't be what it is if they changed the formula ;)

MRMagoo1233317d ago

If the looks of the characters were the only problems you had with ff13 i dont know what to say, I feel the battle system in general was complete balls, the characters sucked, the corridor world was atrocious, the summons and magic was complete sh!t, I would have an easy time rating ff13 as THE worst final fantasy game ever made.

johny53317d ago

I specifically said that the character design was one of the problems I had, not the main problem. BTW, I hated the battle system and it's non existent leveling system! It wasn't just the worst FF game, it was one of the worst hand-holding games I have ever played!

I enjoyed the 2D games more then I did FFXIII

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion1d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled1d 2h ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog133d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake132d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic131d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan132d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman133d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator132d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno132d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior133d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake132d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
