As long as it's just in Story mode I don't see a problem with it. Just don't add quicktime events to the main fighting match. QT events have a time and a place.
Even if it's just story mode, that's a step backwards for MK.

I totally agree. I feel like quick time events actually CAN be a fun mechanic in certain instances. I would just never appreciate it in an actual match. I also saw the story video put out that uses some qte during the game. looks like they put it together well! all in all id say even if youre not a huge fan of qtes, its only a small part of what otherwise looks to be a fantastic game.

If you fail the quicktime events, you WATCH Johnny Cage get his butt kicked. Other than that, it's just there to mess with. No consequences except replay-ability when you decide to do different next time. TFJ: by your standard then so are all moves. QTE's are when a button prompt appears and you press it in the remaining time allowed. Fatalitlies are not QTE's otherwise the button prompts would appear on screen. A fatality is a fatality that requires good timing, the right distance, and the correct button input. Close but not entirely.

It'll follow the same formula as Injustice. Each character will have about 4 or 5 fights, and during cutscenes it will have quicktime like events. Its really not a big deal. Its like Injustice, which is a great game.
I haven't played Injustice but I loved MK9 and a bit old school when it comes to fighting games so I expected a dramatic battle intro followed by the real thing. I'm sorry if I am a little pessimistic about the approach but I don't feel it's needed that's all. I may have to give Injustice a try to feel different.

They mentioned that failing these QTE's won't lead to death you can prettymuch fail all of them and it would still lead you to the next fight, they're just there to create minor variations in the cutscenes. I have no problems with QTE's if it's not made as an either you press it or you die mechanic.
So? Injustice have their mini games in the story mode.
Injustice had quicktime style events too and it wasn't a big deal at all. They were ust during cutscenes, not during actual fights.

1.First they add sh***y relatives.What's the f*kin point of adding them Well obvious they're part of the story. Also how do you know they are completely sh**ty unless you tried the game? I recall people thought Trevor from GTA 5 would be a lame character but later after the game was release he quickly became a fan favorite. So lets not jump the gun before trying it out 2. Including guest dlc doesn't mean they're desperate. It gives fan a chance to try out non-MK/Injustice characters in the respected universes. Plus I don't believe NetherRealm Studios is in the hole given the sales their last two games. If they added fan favorites a lot people would still come up here and complain about something. 3. MK deception wasn't 3x more advance than MK9. MK:D held your hand when it came to combos and was extremely simple to perform long combos. MK9 took a page out MK2 book. Shorten the combos down 3-4+ hits and force users to create their own combos if they wanted something longer. The automatic stage fatalities were called death traps in MK:D. They were cheap and made for easy winning. Losing weapon equipping and shifting arena really doesn't hurt the game in any way as far as I can see it. If anything MK has evolve into a decent fighter and is anything but casual. Its predecessor(anything before MK9 excluding MK1&2) were simple and casual. They held your hand when it came to long combos. Thus performing long combos were easy. Death traps allowed cheap wins. If you're a fan at least support the developers. Waiting for the cheapest price doesn't help them in the least bit, it just help retailers to sell unsold copies and get some profit.
The seven minutes of the story looked good, hopefully they keep the bits of comedy like they had in MK9
I have seen only very few games that use QTEs decently, like Puppeteer where the button corresponded the action during the QTE (for example, X = jump), they didnt feel forced. As long as they are not going to abuse QTEs and allow us to enjoy the story cutscenes Im okay with these (which would mean the game would have to possition QTEs at the end/begining of gameplay sections/cutscenes)

Why are people so against the use of QTE? Do you suck at them or something? They are not hard or that big of a deal. How was God of War such a success?
People should read first or even watch the story gameplay before jumping into conclusions... QTE will happen while the cutscene is playing, not while fighting... For god's sake
I'm excited for this game and have it pre-ordered at Best Buy. I'm not against QTE's, and I'd rather judge completely when I have the final product in my hand.
Just don't go overbroad with it. The spear grab qte was good, the turn around qte wasn't. I hate unnecessary qte like that. Keep it to a minimum have them be exciting and called for.
