Project Cars creative director explains delay: 'It's in everyone's best interest'

On 11 March, 2015, upcoming racing simulator Project Cars was delayed for the second time in as many months. Speaking to IBTimes UK the game's creative director Andy Tudor explained why.

"We want to talk about it," said Tudor. "The game here is the full game... the game's finished, but there are tiny little things that are still to be done, which we've seen other games shipping with. They get pulled up in reviews and they make the team sad and let people down who have bought it and think it's a finished product, but actually there are things wrong with it."

Of course it is. We've seen video of it running on console and it looks horrible, from both a graphics and physics standpoint.

Lol, and an extra 4 weeks will sort that out .... yeah right.

I've been playing builds of it on my PC for over 2 years and I'm still waiting for good driving physics, not gonna happen.

Could you describe the driving experience. I have had my eye on this game for some time. Not too bothered about the graphics as sims tend to look clinical. What I REALLY want to know is how the cras drive. So if you could describe what is bad/good about it that would be great.

Well, thats what you say. On the other hand are the many people saying the physics are fine, and comparable to rFactor and the likes. Some cars are good, some aren't. Who do I believe ?

Besides, have you actually driven those cars in real life ? I don't know, it's hard to believe the physics can ever be as bad as you make it out to be.

We should really expect these delays from now on as it has become common practice. I think they only announce a release date initially for investor purposes. But its better than releasing glitchy, broken games. Problem is that some games are still broken even after these delays.

But it's still hilarious when the game is suppose to come out in Nov, gets delayed to March, then April, and then again to May. If they need more time, take it so it isn't a broken mess when it releases. He mentions Batman, but at least they knew how much time they'd need instead of delaying every few weeks. Seems more like a PR move to build hype.

it was originally supposed to come out in 2013! It's been delayed at least 5 times now.

Well the developer should know where they are at in their project before giving somewhat of a release date. I get unforeseen things happen and cause delay. But no reason to do what Project Cars has done.

Developers are in between a rock and a hard place these days. Release the game on time, as is, and piss fans off or.......delay the game to work out the kinks and piss fans off. Gamers want to have their cake and eat it too it seems like.

A 2 year delay to work out the kinks?

MegaRay1220d ago

Yeah i agree. But they shouldnt give a release date if they're unsure.
