JRPGs, You're Better Than This

N. Ho Sang :"64 hours. 23 hours. 42 hours. 28 hours. Somewhere on a grassy plain trying to figure out if I should spend my days hunting down one of many pending side quests. Somewhere deep in the ocean chasing mermaids. Somewhere making preparations for my next strategic battle. These are all the places I’m willing to leave behind—unexplored and unresolved—because I’m wondering if I give a damn about JRPGs anymore."

The story is too old to be commented.

I am pretty sure i will be content with Disgaea V/Persona V this year. FFXV/Level 5 JRPG/Tales Of series on PS4 the next year. I cant get enough of those games. We need more.

I think this gen should have more JRPG games.

Also to the author, Type 0 is a great game. You will not be disappointed.

I don't get the point he's trying to make...

Anyway, for those of use who want Jrpgs instead of the typical westernized action hack & slash crap that tries to impersonate RPGs, there will be plenty to look forward to in 2015.

Dragon Quest Heroes
Omega Quintet
Persona 5
Disgaea 5
Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force
Hyperdimension Neptunia V II

Fairy Fencer, Dragon Quest, Persona 5, and Disgaea are definitely on my list of Jrpgs to buy.

My problem with modern JRPGs is that they are either hack n' slash, or they have been ridiculously scaled back.

Give me EPIC, LARGE-SCALE, and TURN-BASED with RESPECTABLE (at least) production value, all in one package! This is the kind of game that made me a life-long gamer, and it has VANISHED!
