Can Sony really afford to allow Naughty Dog to kill off Nathan Drake? Probably not, but why?

I don't think I'd be happy with 10 Uncharted games, some things do have to come to an end, maybe Uncharted 5 should be the last game

I still hope ND make a Scifi game

BitbyDeath889d ago

The last quote made by ND stated Uncharted 4 will be the last.

"The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves."

"making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves."

"Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure"

Doesn't mean we won't see another Uncharted game, maybe they'll make a game about his brother, dunno, I honestly don't think it'll be the last Uncharted game we see

Considering their history of letting go of franchises to try new things , i'd say that yes they'll probably be done , at least for a long while . I just dont think they'll kill the character but just end their serie

It's up to Sony to decide if they'd continue with another studio i guess

ever hear of prequels? they touched upon a younger nathan drake in earlier games. let's be very clear, sony will be wanting to make more games with nathan drake. how many times has hideo kojima said he's done with metal gear solid? this business is run by trying to bring in revenue.

The_Sage889d ago

Bitby,

So.... Closure means the end of everything? I've had closure in relationships, but I still exist. Closing a chapter does not mean the end. You're jumping to conclusions.

Agent_00_Revan888d ago

Just remember, Kojima said the same thing about Snake a dozen times. Look where that's led. Anything can happen.

I'd rather have Naughty dog coming up with new ideas, and making new IPs. The Last Of Us. Come on. If they set out to make a new IPs, they make incredible new IPs. Why is everyone so hung up on keeping Naughty Dog making the same games. Their talent is wasted when they're not innovating.

The best selling console of all time is PS2.
Is there any Nathan Drake in there?
Or does PS3 and PS4 not selling well despite all those new icon?

He's Drake, not Snake or Mario or Master Chief.

DarkOcelet889d ago

I am pretty sure Naughty Dog can come up with someone as great as Nate.

Its up to ND, if they want to end the franchise, they will end it.

There is also The Last Of Us. So they can make 2 or 3 more great games out of it.

ginsunuva888d ago

If people told them to make Jak or Uncharted instead of TLOU, we would've never had TLOU.

Now people are begging for TLOU2.

See what happens when talented developers don't listen to inexperienced and impatient teenagers on the internet?

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen889d ago

Uncharted will be just fine. Even if the franchise comes to an end with Uncharted 4, which I doubt, Naughty Dog has an unannounced IP and The Last Of Us to work with.

DragoonsScaleLegends889d ago

I would rather see a new Legend of Dragoon, MediEvil, or Ape Escape instead of Uncharted 20.

SniperControl889d ago

I would love to see those as well, but those games aren't going to sell consoles.

DragoonsScaleLegends889d ago

So as long as the game sells consoles the game itself is irrelevant? I love the Uncharted series but I don't see how they can push it past 4 story wise.

moldybread889d ago

because money is what sony and most companies strive to make. do you honestly think god of war is dead? no, those other games are not irrelevant but consumers have decided which is more relevant.

styferion888d ago

I assure you those games will sell consoles more than Uncharted 20 will.

Scatpants889d ago (Edited 889d ago )

Why would they? Thats like killing off Batman. The only reason to do it is for a marketing scheme.
