Why I am addicted to: The Legend of Zelda Series

The Edge: "The first stage of getting over a problem is to admit that you have one. I was into too many hours of gaming when my sister walked in on me playing the Legend Of Zelda: Windwaker HD. She sighed as she walked past me. “You get addicted to these video games.” I just shrugged my shoulders and continued battering a Moblin monster. I have been playing The Legend of Zelda series for quite a few years now. I’ve not conquered the original games yet, but I assure you it’s a work in progress. Yet, it’s the Zelda games just after the Game Cube that I adore."

Just got to the Forrest Temple of OoT 3DS.

Once I'm done with this, I get to finally play Majora's Mask.

In 2015 I'll get to play LoZ:OoT 3DS, Majora's Mask 3DS, Wind Waker HD & New Wii U Legend of Zelda.

* Noticed so many small details in OoT 3DS that I'd forgotten about.

I think you have to have the mind of a child to love the Zelda franchise, because I just don't get it, I mean I really don't get it. One phrase I've never uttered while playing a Zelda game... "Wow".

InTheZoneAC1097d ago

if you're talking about zelda wii, then it sucked

but all the older zelda's are very enjoyable

and your argument could also be used against pokemon and your avatar or any game in general...

You must be young. Try opening up OOT on release day for the N64 and tell me that didn't make you say wow. Don't insult the fanbase with this "you have to have the mind of a child to love the Zelda franchise" nonsense if it seems you yourself haven't really experienced why this franchise is so beloved by gamers. After all you really don't get it.:)

telekineticmantis1097d ago

No, OOT made me say "Cool", it didnt make me say "Wow ". There was no amazing mind twisting, or breathtaking story, or suspenseful setpiece, or memorable characters to get attached to. It did many things well, gave alot of options, I can say that.

Yes there were.

Your supposed to be intelligent enough to connect some of the dots in the game yourself....it doesn't literally explain every small detail about the world.

Part of it is using your imagination and the other is to leave a mysterious sense of wonderment because you don't know everything there is.

That keeps it interesting.

LoZ doesn't do all the things other RPG's do, but it's an Action Adventure game and it does things other games don't....it gets the small details right.

DizzyDino1097d ago

Your mom made me say WOW. Multiple times.

telekineticmantis1097d ago

Ya think that's impressive? Your Grandma blew my Ocarina right before she died... That was the last Link she ever saw...

jholden32491097d ago

Nonsense.

You'd have to hate video games to not like Zelda. Or be so young that you've been conditioned to believe a game is all about cinematics and QTE's.

telekineticmantis1097d ago

I'm 31, why do people keep trying to use youth as an excuse for not liking Zelda, when Wind Waker was a cartoon game, and that was just as unexciting as any other Zelda game. Here's a good way too give you understanding, name an unforgettable moment from any Legend of Zelda game, I'll wait...

@cartoon doesnt mean its for kids. plenty of adults love that art style including me. I feel like the ones trying to be "adults" ussually arent or have some self esteem issues related to the adult image.

But to answer your question, if i just talk about windwaker than getting the boat for the first time was very memorable. The first boss, and hooking onto the giants dragons tail. The return of the deku tree and his cute little dukus, the underwater temple that conected to the original hyrule. Lets not also forget about the giant bird and rescuing your sister. And the twist of who zelda was and the pirates. Havent played sense orignal release and i remember a lot of memorable moments

Or maybe people just have different opinions and like different things? Just because you don't like it, that doesn't mean it's childish.
