Nintendo has launched five (count them) Nintendo 3DS-related products today. Two consoles (or four, if you're counting special editions) and three games, including the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and Monster Hunter 4.
MCV has played on them, and we like them. But just how significant are these launches? Who are Nintendo targeting the consoles and these games at? And what does the future look like for Nintendo's portable? We asked Nintendo UK's head of consumer marketing, James Honeywell.
The best Legend of Zelda games experiment and tackle new grounds for the industry. These are the essential titles in the series you need to play.
I am a huge Zelda fan and love them all, but for me Ocarina Of Time is the greatest and my second all time favourite game after Final Fantasy VII.

I also love all of the Zelda games but I adore Windwaker (Specifically the HD version on WiiU) most of all. It is a close run thing with Breath of the Wild though.
Special mention to Cadence of Hyrule too, what an awesome spin off title that was!

A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker etc is better than Breath of the Wild.
I think it really depends on what you're looking for. If you want a traditional Zelda game then OoT or WW would be better to you. But if you want a Zelda game that really leans into adventure and exploration, and if you want intelligent systems/logic, BotW would be the better game.
I enjoy both. I understand why some people aren't fond of it but for me it was a breath of fresh air that I really needed. I'd become so burnt out on unimaginative games and BotW sort of made me appreciate games again, as weird as that may sound.
Right...so let's pretend ocarina of time didnt have exploration, secret dungeons and other secrets. Complex boss mechanics and exploration rewards. At least a traditional Zelda has dungeons.
What point are you attempting to make? At no point did I say that OoT didn't have any of that. However, the level of exploration and sense of adventure are vastly different between OoT and BotW.
Majora's Mask still holds as my favorite to this day, despite being the black sheep of the series.
I love them all, but Wind Walker, Link to the Past and Minish Cap are my favorites

Nintendo will be shutting down the eShop for the 3DS and Wii U completely in 2023. Makes sure to check out these games before they do.
If they're not important enough to be held on their own official storefront then they're not important enough to give your money to Nintendo.
Buy these, physically, used or simply emulate them.

Wait hang on where all the outrage? I swear when Sony tried to do this with PS3 last year. There was outrage from all corners of the gaming universe.

Oh I have a fair few websites reporting on it. But where is the outcry on here? I remember their was 2-3 approved top voted articles when Sony announced they where closing the PS3 store. All slating them and not caring about customers.

N4G is a fanboy site, mainly frequented by only Sony.
Microsoft is their direct competition, so you'll typically only see articles that are made to rile up those fanbases.
Nintendo does it's own thing, so they're rarely brought up, aside from their fans. The most you get is the same typical two or three posters claiming Nintendo is only for infants.
If you come to N4G for educated discourse and reasonable discussion, this isn't the place. Sad as it is.
It's lame that it is shutting down. Now I feel rushed buying all the rpgs I missed out on the system.
You guys know that even archive.org has 3DS roms, and all other console roms. I'm downloading 846GB of 3DS roms and will add the best games to my soon to be soft modded New 3DS 😁. Might as well throw in DS and other emulators in there to. Guys this would be the best way to play and enjoy the 3DS. Just need to buy a bigger micro SD card and format it to FAT32, which you can if it's even 256GB or larger there are ways.

I'm their target customer. Still got a DS Lite and am very excited for this new system and its improved 3D tracking.
I'm trying to 'patiently' wait for my shipping confirmation from Best Buy before I call them and blow up as to why its 7pm on release day and still hasnt shipped!
I ordered off of Best Buy since it was sold out in the stores around me. I held off getting many a special edtion 3DS over the years. The NES 3DS hurt the most though. I really wanted that one. With that being said I feel the wait will be worth it. I love playing with the 3D on but it was tedious at times on my launch 3DS. This new one is leaps and bounds better. In the end I am glad I waited. Can't wait.
