DONTNOD and Square-Enix had great plans to revolutionize the medium with Life is Strange, an episodic coming-of-age tale with a supernatural twist. Unfortunately, the game is an embarrassment to both storytelling in games and video games as a whole.
I know this game would not be for every one but 3/10 is really low score.
this game is at least 8/10 for ppl who like such type of games and at least 6/10 for those who dont, but 3/10? the hell!
Life Is Strange took me by surprise, the episode 1 is a GOTY contender for me, cant wait to play the next episode in march. a unique mix of exploration and narrative-driven gameplay such as Heavy rain, beyond two souls and teltale games, a deep& engrossing story, supernatural aspect with time manipulation mechanic, interesting cast, lot of details/story to discover if youre not affraid to read and great use of a soundtrack.(some stuff can seem a bit hipstery but its totally contextual anyway) took me around 3hrs to clear the episode and looking at/finding EVERYTHING, so far im very VERY impressed with Life Is Strange a good 9/10
It's the second of February. That has to be earliest 'GOTY' claim I've seen on here
no different for games that come out at the end of the year like Dragon Age did! Idk HOW that won GOTY smh
I have yet to play it but after remember me I have enough confidence in dotnot so I bought the season pass. Great to hear it's good :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one, this is a good game. Some of the dialog isn't that great, and the lips are off when people are talking. The game kept me playing until the end. I would give it a 7 out of 10.
There is always a few ...
btw the opening scene reminded me SO MUCH of Donnie Darko.
Can't really agree with the review.
I played the trial, and it seemed like a solid product so I have serious doubts it is a 3/10.
Exactly. 3/10 is something you give when a game is either broken or terrible right down to its core. For all it does wrong this game does at least look well-defined and plays exactly how it's designed to play with almost zero bugs.
Not enough shooting 3/10
I didn't like it too so boring maybe cuz it's the first episode nothing much happened I'll wait for the second episode hope it gets better
Agreed. Figuring out how to get some out-of-reach screwdrivers or finding out how to enter your dorm did not make for the most compelling gameplay out there.
Punctuation... For the love of God use some punctuation.
I could live with 5/10 for someone who's really harsh when it comes to rating the narrative, but to give a GAME 3/10 just for having a bad story and an overpromising mechanic that can't live up to its idea, when the artstyle is great and clearly defined, the graphics are great, the music is good and the game feels more polished than any telltale game ever did... then you're clearly underrating this flawed gem. I'd give it 8/10 personally. I can see all the flaws it has and still think it's a fully enjoyable game. Even as flawed as the writing can be it still stirs up thoughts, nostalgia and imaginative feelings in my head and that makes it interesting.
I thought it was good for the price. It's hard to judge yet since most of the consequences haven't come into play yet.
I absolutely love this game. The wait for episode 2 will be hard. The first episode set up the characters well and everyone seems to be well thought out. It feels so real yet introduces time travel. Amazing game here and for people who don't even like these types of games, 3/10 is ridiculous.
