Introversion isn’t exactly uncommon in video gaming, either. Like reading and writing, hardcore gaming is often a solitary hobby – done alone, often for an extended period of time. And, despite the ever-growing presence of massively multiplayer gaming, it’s quite common to have very few online friends. Many gamers exclusively play single-player games, which lack any meaningful online connectivity. Other times, multiplayer video games allow us to play online without needing to communicate with others. Team Fortress 2 and Battlefield 4, for instance, utilize strategic team-based gameplay that still gives lone wolves the opportunity to play without needing a friend to tag along. Of course, with little need to build friendships in-game… being a gamer can get lonely at times.
