GamePro Feature: How to Defeat All 7 Bosses in Metal Gear Solid 4

The bosses of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots are tough to beat, even for the most accomplished gamer. As if the roster of freaks in all the previous games wasn't ridiculous enough, you now have to deal with crazy mechanized babe machines, a souped-up Metal Gear Ray, and an immortal vampiric freakshow. GamePro's going to give you some valuable intel on taking down the big baddies in MGS4, just in case you can't sneak your way out of a "Mission Failed" scenario.

The story is too old to be commented.

I thought the bosses were pretty fun and challenging, but I still preferred the EPIC boss battles of previous MGS games

I would put the battle with Screaming Mantis at the very top of the list for the series imo...mostly because of the fan nods it gives ('no controller port 2 on the PS3?'...funny as hell)...and Pyscho Mantis was probably my favorite...

visually, I thought the BB-corp was awesome...but the voice acting sucked...some of the cheesiest stuff in the entire series (Raven's "show me your rage" line was punishingly annoying)...

I still think Vamp is the dumbest ballerina in the entire series...just knowing his voice is done by the dude that got his head splattered by Vincent in Pulp Fiction (he is also the annoying guy from early MADtv episodes) makes me hate him even more...surprisingly though, the battle with him was actually pretty fun...

MGS4 overall had great boss battles...maybe not up to the variety and overall intensity of MGS3, but that was no easy feat...that also was possibly unavoidable...given the new camera and drebin system...the intensity of fighting a boss with low ammo and goofy camera angles was removed...MGS4 makes up for slightly less intense, but more nastalgic, boss battles by having a much more engaging gameplay for the rest of the game (meaning, its more fun than past MGS games, especially when you aren't fighting bosses)...

Also, the Metal Gear battle was absolutely awesome as well...possibly more so than Mantis...tough call for me...

i heard if you charge up the rail gun its a one hit kill for raging raven

Kleptic3426d ago

nope...tried that...doesn't work, at least on hard...

more like 3 or 4 fully charged hits...

the rail gun does the best on Wolf (afterall, it is her gun)...but charging it will nearly always get her to spot you, in which case its a race to whoever is fully charged first...I found it easier to just use javelins, or a M60E4 on her in the harder difficulties...if playing on easy or normal, just snipe her head with any sniper rifle...does the trick fine, she will rarely even fire at you on those difficulties...

I didn't read this article by the way, so if I am just rehashing whatever is in it...my apologies...
