I've only played MGS4 and found the story to be very confusing, although i loved the hell out of that game.

Is there any way to get the entire storyline that's connected to MGSV: PP?

I've already preordered it but i would love to have a humm about the story before i do play it.

Start with the first one (PSX,Playstation 1) and work your way trough.You'll be even more confused.

@CasualGamer, yes.

The only real necessary games you need to play to get the full impact of Phantom Pain are MGS3 and MGS Peace Walker. Both available on the HD Collection for PS3 and 360. Also Ground Zeroes is vital, but that's a much smaller 2 hour investment.

Do all of this, and you're fully set for Phantom Pain! But even so, just as good games go in general, I would recommend the rest of the series any day, cuz they are my favorite games ever. And if you decide to get the HD collection, may as well play MGS2 on it. If you were confused in 4, 2 tops it in craziness and confusion especially for newcomers.

There's a quicker, easier, and cheaper way to get the gist of the main MGS plot. Watch some videos summing it up!

Or watch the movies dedicated to each game. To get up to speed with Big boss' story you'd need to watch; MGS3, MGS:PO, and MGS:PW.
