The rather intesting trip into The Order: 1886‘s background and lore continues at the game’s alternate reality Tumblr, and even if today there are no enigmas to solve, we get to see a couple interesting props, and a possible tease.
I get the feeling that their rivalry might be the reason the rebels acquired the weapons since Tesla worked with Edison for two years starting in 1882. Maybe Edison was the one who gave the weapons to the rebels.
Here's something I just noticed: http://edison.rutgers.edu/l... This company succeeded Edison's Indian and Colonial Electric Company. On May 20, 1886, it obtained the latter company's interest in promoting the Edison system of electric lighting in Australasia, Ceylon, India, and South Africa; in October 1889 Edison formally assigned his patent rights to the company. In 1891 the same rights were assigned to the Brush Electrical Engineering Company. And yesterday's entry mentions the United India Company as possibly involved with the Order or even an enemy.
Something tells me Edison is in the game. And i am pretty sure these two wont get along and stirring something really bad. "short-lived War of the Currents which peaked between 1886 and about 1891. The "war" was already showing signs of winding down when the pre-merger Edison companies optioned licenses on the European Z.B.D. AC system in 1886." I get the feeling War of the currents will be very important in the game. Also Tesla left working with Edison 1885, before the events of 1886. Edison clearly hated Tesla in real life. So i imagine this can be transitioned in a different more brutal way in the game.
Edison and Tesla were known competitors toward the end of their careers. Makes me wonder if the Rebels use Edison and The Order uses Tesla. In which case, the Rebels will surely win out since most of what Tesla did was just maniacal tinkering. =)
Edison was not exactly a man that i can call a good person. Electrocuting animals in public and being an @sshole to Tesla. "Edison proclaimed, "I am proud of the fact that I never invented weapons to kill." Yeah right.. Even Tesla admitted he was not a good person. "He had no hobby, cared for no sort of amusement of any kind and lived in utter disregard of the most elementary rules of hygiene" and that, "His method was inefficient in the extreme, for an immense ground had to be covered to get anything at all unless blind chance intervened and, at first, I was almost a sorry witness of his doings, knowing that just a little theory and calculation would have saved him 90% of the labour. But he had a veritable contempt for book learning and mathematical knowledge, trusting himself entirely to his inventor's instinct and practical American sense."
I was pretty active on Irrational's forums prior to Infinite's release. I'm reminded of all of the speculating we did on as to what was going on in the game. Tesla is one of history's greatest minds period, and it's shameful that he doesn't receive the recognition he rightfully deserves. His inclusion in this game only serves to pique my interest in it even more so.
best explosion in a game ever and it's just a barrel explosion O_O
It certainly looks beautiful. I am still amazed on how a team that only made games on PSP could achieve such an impressive visuals on the PS4. RAD has the potential to be one of the best devs this gen. I really wish them the best of luck.
@ocelot- I was always pretty impressed at how RAD pulled off GoW on the PSP visually and with the best stories in the series IMHO. From the first scenes of CoO they nailed the sense of epic scale and made that small screen seem capable of way more than you'd have thought so I was always confident they'd be up to the task with The Order despite all the doubters. There's been some flak in the media for the game but the debs have never let me down and deserve a chance to impress and I've not seen anything to make me worried my faith may be misplaced. Tesla and Edison is a clever personality clash yo add to game's mix and gives weight to some of the alternate science and history. I think it's intriguing and more intelligent than most game concepts showing more than merely a pretty set of pixels. Mix high quality and varied game play to the looks and concept and this could be a great experience at a time where tps and fps games have been lacking as single player adventures lately. Hoping to be, at least, highly entertained and maybe taken on a TLOU level trip and blown away if we're lucky.
Game looks amazing.
Is Thomas Edison a werewolf? That would have me howling with laughter, or if he was a vampire, then that would be fantastic. So looking forward to this game in a multi-dimensional way ; [ }
So this game is an alternate universe General Electric ad now?
Is knowing an event in history an ad now? I personally am very interested to see what the game will offer in terms of knowledge because Nikola Tesla is a person, i wanted to know more about so knowing more about him in a way that is more entertaining to me than reading is really awesome.
Tesla is a great person to have in this story. His story/mythology is dramatic in itself and will fit the tone of this game perfectly. Frying Edison would be truly poetic.
These are the same pictures that show up in between QTEs in the real game!
Are you going to bring your 100 Dualshockers alts to this link, too?
Was so excited about this game until I read no multiplayer or local coop They want to focus on single player mode I'll focus on my xbox one
