Game Idealist takes a look at the best DualShock 4 analog stick grips available for the PlayStation 4 controller.
I need these. My thumbs get raw easily when playing in any system, including ps4
Get the GelTabz they are nice and stay in place. I bought the GripIts originally and they just feel apart! I think Gamestop sells the GelTabz for like 7 bucks for 2 sets!
dude, geltabz are the best! if your hands get sweaty and sometimes your fingers slip off, this is the solution. your fingers wont slip off again even if you had olive oil on them.
I bought the grip its about three months ago and they are fantastic...a bit tricky to put on initially, but once they're on they stay right where you put them, and the feel is great...much better than the oe grips. The geltabz are just ok imo...I bought the geltabz at the same time and they aren't in the same league as the grip its. Of course, you could buy them both as they're cheap and decide for yourself. As for the kontrol freeks, I've owned them in the past for the 360 pad, but didn't really care for them much.
I actually got a set of these for my PS4 but having have to spend $13 for a grip fix is really not what I had expected due to Sony cheap out on the rubber padding for the sticks as my left thumbstick start peeling off after a week heavy usage on MLB 14. I never had this problem with the DS3.
Sorry to hear that... I luckily have two ds4s and I switch off with them... It seems to keep the wear really down as I have had absolutely zero issues with either
depends how often you play with it. If you are hardcore PS4 gamer like me, I spent the whole summer playing MLB 14 and TLOU HD and GTAV are two of my most played games last year...I could imagine the damage without a protective grip with Bloodborne, MLB 15, witcher 3, and especially Mortal Kombat X will do to my DS4 in the first half of 2015.
Lmao MLB the show made the rubber peel of one of my Dualshock 4's analog sticks aswell
Grip itz aren't too bad, although they slip off when friends and family use them. Friends generally don't like them but I've gotten used to them.
If you like the GripIts you'll love the GelTabz
I used to use these, but I switched the thumb sticks and added X1 thumbs sticks instead, it's felt so much better. For some reason the ps4s controller thumb sticks are very smooth so my thumbs kept slipping off a lot.
Interesting... I feel they are much better than the x1s sticks which I consider to be too loose...
The mechanism of the sticks arms to be exactly the same. The only tall differences are the grips and height of the sticks.
I did the same but have been having some cramping problems on my hands now after a session, I think it's because of the height of the sticks itself which want designed for this specific controller.
Agreed. Swapped sticks for xb1 sticks, would never go back. Smaller diameter, grippier feel gives me more control. Love em
I paid $30 for my set of kontrolfreeks. Money well spent
I got the GelTabz. They are awesome!
Really? They have significantly less grip for me. Took 'em off and tried the Kontrolfreeks from best buy...not a big fan of those either. Grip Its still work best for me.
I also bought the Geltabz but did not like them due to it feeling like they were tickling my thumbs. However, I flipped them inside out, cut a bit of the edges down so it didn't rub against the controller, and they feel great. Kind of like the PS3 controller analog sticks.
These grips are a great product. They protect the tops of your analog sticks from wear.
IMO so much more confortable with thumb grips so its just win win, I couldn't do without it
I still dont understand how people get this problem. I have put 300+ hours into my controller and it has yet to break.
The thumbstick on both my ps4 controllers are worn out great design decision by sony
i got the kelux ones, four high, convex with dimples and concave and 4 short. i dont get why kontrol freekz cost so much, 8 black for around £5 or 2 kontrol freekz for £10+?
Me and my friend bought X1 on the exact same date. His left stick gave up after a month, while mine's still going strong. In the process he barely touched his X1 and we play nhl 15 time to time while I finished FH2, Halo MCC , Sunset Overdrive and still play hours and hours of MCC online, and still no signs of wear. My point is it all depends on how you treat it.If you find value in these tabs then by all means, $13 is a lot cheaper than replacing your controller
I keep my sticks stock and none of them have worn down yet. I've had the PS4 for over a year now. The standard sticks used to hurt my thumbs, but they don't anymore. Not sure why, but they're very comfortable to me now. Just gotta get used to them for a bit.
Fuck this, these are for people who wipe their greasy foreheads and complain that their thumb sticks are too slippery
