'Dying Light' Review: Zombie Souls | Forbes

Forbes: Dying Light is a little bit like Dark Souls.

For instance, you can be invaded by other players, just like in Dark Souls—the challenging action-RPG from Japanese game developer From Software. In Dying Light, these invaders take the shape of a special, powerful zombie.

And just like in Dark Souls, your combat actions are dictated by a draining stamina bar.

As you hack and slash away at zombies in the fictional Middle-Eastern city of Harran, you’ll often find yourself out of breath, having to back away to let your stamina bar refill.

Considering the fact that zombies take quite a few hits to bring down—though perhaps not quite so many as the walking dead in Ubisoft’s Wii U exclusive ZombiU, a game that also reminded me of Dark Souls a bit—you often find yourself on the defensive, at least early on in the game.

And that, dear reader, is about as far as I’ll run with the Dark Souls comparisons.

The story is too old to be commented.

So this guy managed to finish the game before writing his review?

MilkMan937d ago

No, hes still paying and based on what I read he sounds a lot like me. He likes what hes played so far but wont give it the stamp of approval....yet.

a review before even finishing the game is a incomplete review even if he is praising it. I know there's no score, but still

Im enjoying the game, it really is good and better than I expected.

Glad there isn't a score yet as he hasn't finished. Game is fantastic so far, Mirror's Dead Fallout would have been a good alternate title.

Thnx for all the input the reviewers and commenters on here have given. I am happy to see that this zombie game is worthwhile and will be picking it up next week. Honestly i trust more reviews coming from the average joe then professionals because they are usually in line with my tastes and not full of paid off bias (although alot of gamers also have their own system bias).

ozmoses....

Oh please dont let it be like Farrcry. I find Farcry games to be repetitive and boring as well.

Not so much FarCry gameplay....

just the way the game is represented... the style... the music.. those type of things..

Hope mine comes in the mail today lol, ready to play!

SOULS???? REALLY???

If anything Dying Light screams FarCry.... It is so damn apparent from the Opening Cinematic and the music on the menu screen/loading screen..

They definitely are going for a FarCry type vibe... Definitely..

the game is way better than Dead Island in my opinion...

the crafting is superb and you can craft on the fly whenever you want, you don't have to go to a certain area or anything like that.

the lock picking works like it does in Skyrim type games.

the story seems intriguing and voice acting isn't bad.

I've played for about 10 hours or so... Nowhere near completion. but I would say this game is worth it

The presentation is a lot like Far Cry however it has much better side quests, kind of reminds me of Borderlands. IMO it is a good mix between Borderlands, FC, and Dead Island

I'll be picking this up this weekend.
