The Best Start To An Assassin's Creed Game

Kotaku - If I have one guilty pleasure series, it's Assassin's Creed. Normally, I'm not one to get excited about yearly releases, let alone broken games. But I've played and mostly enjoyed every game in the series. Recently, I returned to Assassin's Creed II, and, much to my surprise, I realized just how much I've lowered my standards since that game's 2009 release.

The first hour of Assassin's Creed II is a superb reminder of how great this series can be, providing a blueprint for future entries in the series.

The story is too old to be commented.

Assassin's Creed II is the best game in the series, and one of the best games of last generation.

It will always be known as the best example of how you take an alright game (Assassins Creed) and with the sequel expand on everything to make the series worthwhile.

Ezio was fantastic and his character development was great to watch as he grew and matured.

This is a problem with newer AC games, the main characters are usually crap.

I mean compare Ezio to to do a character and how not to.

100% agree with you. I couldnt get myself to finish AC III. At chapter 10 I just gave up.. I never did any of the side missions, never invested in the NPC or explored every inch of the map... The Val Kilmer sounding VA irritated the shit out of me.

The character just made me rush through the game up until that shite mission where George Washington ordered a kill on your tribe and you had to rush through the woods with that SHIT horse to stop them.

It was at this point when I realized just how broken, repetitive and unpolished this game really is. It really deserved every bad review and fan backlash it got back in the day. Stopped the mission after a few dozen attempts, quit the game and deleted it from my HDD.

Thank God it was a free game from PSN+, other wise I would've been pissed off if I had to spend actual money on this POS.

I loved Assassins Creed IV's start.. Seeing Kenway rise from a scoundrel to a Captain not to mention the naval battles despite tis blunt ending I really enjoyed it.

I also would say Assassins Creed 2's story is awesome but some elements at the end spoiled it for me, I wotn say what happens to avoid spoilers all I can say is Minerva.. Plus the controls def need an upgrade... Found myself getting frustrated beyond believe when Ezio didnt want to grab the ledges when I jumped from building to building at at times, or when he just decided to jump into random directions. Not to mention the frame rate problems and pop ups we PS3 owners suffered last gen.
