Are Online-Only Games Ruining Gaming?

The World Wide Web has become a normal component of modern day life; we use it for social networking, videos, news, even gaming. Customarily, an Internet connection is established as an optional item to play games—usually allowing players to connect on servers to play against each other in multiplayer matches or together in cooperative experiences. However, recently a trend has appeared in the gaming world in the form of “Online Only” games. With these types of games it is mandatory to have the Internet to play the game at all—even in single player (if there even is one).

hell no, I buy mostly online games, since 2006, PS3 changed my gaming forever, free online with many friends, similar conditions for everyone... fun and games.. most of the games today have ultra dumb AI, so playing with real players only makes it better.. more realistic, harder and adds real challenges..

and yes, games like Fallout, Last of us, wasteland, skyrim, hitman, uncharted and so on... all are great, and I play them... but online adds that awesome party feel, everyone enjoying the same game, and you feel like you really play something for real.. while single player games AI mostly destroy that feeling, they are over powered or dumb.. it looks silly and spoils my gaming..

Are Single player only games ruining gaming?
Is charging full price for a game that either has Online-Only, OR (not and) Single player ruining gaming.

Paying $60 full price for a single player game upon release like Thief is ridiculous. Or a Online-Only game at $60 is ridiculous too.

"Paying $60 full price for a single player game upon release like Thief is ridiculous. Or a Online-Only game at $60 is ridiculous too."

That's completely subjective.

OT - No more than any other type of game. If enough people don't like something it won't be on the market for long, so if online games are getting more common it means people buy them. Those who don't like them have other options.

FACT, 90% of all games that come out that come out today have tacked on shitty multiplayer that has a small ass community that will die out within a month. they give you shitty multiplayer and be like "oh more value"

very few games that come out today have good multiplayer that will last.

I say not ruining but making it difficult for thoes who dont have internet..? Disagree ok your moving home you have to wait for your internet to be setup.. Maybe your broadband is playing up customer services sais you have wait week till we have someone free to come out and fix this.?
Yet you have games that you wish to play even if its singleplayer but you cant cos you have to be logged in to play.
I have personally expiranced this issue trust me as Gamer its annoying.

No, the main thing ruining gaming is greed and the ones with open wallets who help to justify said greed.

I say yes. I would have enjoyed Diablo 3 or titanfall if I could play it offline. Evolve will be the same way for me. (90% of my gaming is at the rig where internet isn't an option). (Also Diablo 3 sucked from the get go anyways.lost all the magic Diablo 1 and 2 had)
