VGChartz writes: "Last week, three titles sold over 100,000 units. This week, no titles sold over 100,000 units and it is a close call as to whether any game even sold 50,000 units this week. Here is a four word summary: Japanese sales are down.
Sales are down sharply this week in Japan. After a big week last week in which three titles sold over 100,000, it's possible that no games sold over 50,000 units this week. With the market down, a number of titles returned to the top twenty preliminary data. One surprise for the week in the data is that Metal Gear Solid 4 has disappeared. However, the game likely sold out at the store, as Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops + for PSP had an otherwise inexplicable surge. For people who love Metal Gear, that appears to have been the substitute this week during the sell out. Overall, Wii was the only platform to see software sales top 100,000 according to the preliminary data.
-After a surge last week from Derby Stallion and Band Brothers DS software quieted down to the levels of PSP software in the data for this week.
-Wii Play returned to the top twenty after 18+ months of sales.
-Niche PS2 software continues to chart as fewer and fewer major releases come to PS2.
