Alex delves into the prospect of a Metroid game on Nintendo's Wii U, New 3DS exclusive titles, the content we can expect in Zelda for Wii U, and his all-time favourite Nintendo game.
Nintendo's often neglected franchise.
That and Star Fox. Would love a new Metroid game. It's been too long.
Hardly neglected. With the Wii we got Corruption and Other M. On the Gamecube we had Prime and Echoes. 4 Metroid's, 1 of them (Prime, obviously) a stone cold classic. Thats not mentioning Metroid Trilogy. Now, thats just counting the above mentioned, 4 brand new Metroid's in only 2 generations of consoles. While that may seem stingy to those enjoying 6 monthly instalments of the same franchise, don't forget, Nintendo don't do DLC and sell it as a full price game.
Don't forget F-Zero, Earthbound, Donkey Kong Classic (such as DK 1, 2, 3, and GB) and many of their sub-series like Pokemon Stadium, and Wario.
You say that BUT, when Nintendo do release many games of their "sub-series" nobody (apart from me it feels) actually buys them. Wario for example. Smooth Moves and Shake Dimension were (last gen) brilliantly crafted games, either fun or challenging, both scoring critical acclaim - at least favourable. It mattered not. The masses - in case you handnt noticed - just continue to gobble up any old chav fodder, overlooking as they do the gems beneath.
Judging by all the kiddies Nintendo games recently release almost none, we won't see a proper Metroid game like probably never :(. I hope I don't know how but I really hope somehow a truly gaming company take from Nintendo this IP and save it!, they can keep their Pokerabbies games, Marios and Luigis monotonous franchises. Samus Aran doesn't deserve to be forgotten like this, Samus is up there with big names like Solid Snake, Master Chef, Natan Drake just to name a few. DAMN YOU NINTENDO!! DAMN YOU !!!
Everything besides your last paragraph made my head hurt trying to read it. But I think I understand and agree with what you're saying...I think.
I've been dying to see the next metroid game for a long time. But I'd rather Nintendo take all the time they need to produce a metroid game like we have never seen before. From my own personal observation, I think Nintendo have matured so much with in the last few years. Their game are looking better and better. The last few AAA games Nintendo released on wii u tells me they're getting better at making games. That said, I still couldn't get the same feel I once had for Nintendo. But, I have to say Kirby on Wii U have actually made crack a little smile b/c its was the first game that made reminisce about the good old NES days. To my surprise, I couldn't believe smash as well as all the other Wii u game couldn't make me feel like that. Personally speaking,I think this is a start of something good.
Masterfox, you went too far this time.
