Top five reasons why you should buy (or upgrade to) the New Nintendo 3DS.
I'm going to wait and see what other exclusive the New 3DS gets apart from the 3DS. I just feel like the next Nintendo handheld would be announced in 2-3 years.
Other exclusive? I didn't realize it had even one.
Xenoblade Chronicles which will only be able to run on the New 3DS.
...Xenoblade Chronicles is a port of a game you can play on a Wii or WiiU. It's no more an exclusive than OoT3D, Tales of the Abyss, or Guacamelee.
No offence to 3ds but these reasons are stupid
I truly feel they should have held off on this unit. If they wanted to add a little C-stick it could have waited till their next iteration. They could have added some more horsepower, backwards compatability, and a C-stick.
I think I'm in the minority but, I haven't had a DS since the DS Lite. So for me this was a good time to get the newest system. There's a big backlog of 3DS games I haven't played until the New 3DS starts to get its exclusive titles.
Yeah, I'm with you in that minority. Nintendo handhelds I own include: GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance SP, DS Lite, and I've got the MH4U 3DS Bundle being delivered, which I'm really looking forward to. For those not in our situation, though, I can understand being irked by the various upgrades of the New 3DS. If you've got the cash and you REALLY want one, then pick it up, otherwise you're probably fine as-is. On a side-note: Does anyone know if the 3DS is compatible with DSi games? I never got that system but I recall liking the look of some of those games.
It's compatible with Every DS game. My kids went from the DSi to the 2DS, no problem.
in a year time we will have the successor to the new 3ds. im holding out on this. Number 4 is only for faster download speeds, graphics being enhanced isn't confirmed at all.
If we support Nintendo n buy the new 3ds without a charger, it's going to hurt us gamers in the long run!!!! 1st Nintendo will start selling there next gen handhelds this way to be cheap, 2nd others will watch this close n see what they can get by with leaving out, 3rd it's not fair to have to buy a new system and buy a charger also that will be the first time ever we had to do that with any thing ever sold... 4th it's just Not smart as a consumer to buy that way... I'm Not going to support it at all, my grandson want the new 3ds but until nintendo stops with the greed I won't spend no money on anything nintendo name is on, I sold my Wii, n Wii U just because of nintendo doing this,... I WILL NOT Support them at all....
Top Five reasons not to buy a 3DS: 1. It's a $200 version of a system you probably already own. 2. It doesn't include a charger. 3. Nintendo's lack of accounts makes transferring to a new system a pain in the butt and it makes your old 3DS essentially useless to you (seriously, how has this not been fixed yet). 4. The actual successor to the 3DS is probably not that far away. 5. One of the best part of buying a New 3DS is that it will get exclusive games. So far, we only know of one. 6. (Bonus) Nintendo put absolutely no creativity into naming it.
Top five reasons not to by a New* 3DS
Actually, this is a reply to your reply, post # 7.2.1: I pre-ordered the MH4U New 3DS XL bundle and eagerly await its arrival around the middle of next month. :) I LOVE Monster Hunter. I've played "Monster Hunter Freedom Unite" on Sony's PlayStation Portable for over 1,000 hours. I even went back and picked up MH1 on PS2 & MH: Freedom 1 on PSP. It's a great series and in my top 3 gaming series of ALL TIME (Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter). If you get the game let me know and I'd be more than happy to hunt with ye... well, once I figured out the whole friend code thing. The most recent Nintendo system I own is a DS Lite.
For many Nintendo fans Reason 1 is likely true. I'm a PlayStation fan so I don't own many Nintendo systems in general, so for mw this will be my first 3DS. :) Reason 2 I completely agree with. I don't think a lack of an AC adapter is a complete deal breaker on its own, but to not include one is just stupid. I can understand not including something like a car charer, that's an accessory, but to not include the AC adapter is just... well... stupid, as I said before. Reason 3 I'm completely ignorant of. I know nothing of transferring data between systems, never had to do it. I'll take your word for it, though. Reason 4 is understandable. I can see Nintendo coming out with a new handheld in another 3 ~ 4 years, so it just depends on how anxious or patient people are to get a new system. Reason 5 is tricky. I think this depends on the New 3DS adoption rate. If this system sells well then we'll likely see more New 3DS exclusives. If sales aren't impressive then I don't think Nintendo will bother as much as the install base won't be there. Reason 6 is a matter of perference. It is true to the name, it is the New version of their 3DS. I could've seen them calling it the 3DS+, but maybe they were worried some ignorant parents would think it's just an expensive peripheral and not a newer version of the same system.
If you've never owned a 3DS, you are making the right decision to get a New 3DS. It's definitely the best version of the system. It's just not worth upgrading to for those of use who already own a regular 3DS or 3DS XL. On a side note, if you are getting a 3DS, you should give Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate a try when it comes out. MH is easily one of the most addictive and challenging games out there.
