James of Twinfinite writes "In a world where Starcraft 2 almost totally dominates the real time strategy world, it’s pretty hard for newcomers to differentiate themselves from the old guard. Blizzard’s aforementioned genre giant, along with Stronghold and the Command & Conquer series, used to be a Bermuda Triangle into which many upstart strategy titles fell. As time went on, even the stalwart Command & Conquer fell into its own darkness. Now some ex-Westwood developers are back to wage bloody war in the real time strategy world with Grey Goo, and it gets gooey."
