Gamer Headlines writes: "When Resident Evil first released in 1996, it defined what we all refer to now as the Survival Horror genre, with its scary, ambient setting and instant sentiment of isolation, despite its obvious flaws. While the franchise went on to spark many spin-off titles and sequels, none of them managed to recreate the true horror sentiment from the classic first installment, which is why it is extremely exciting to revisit this 19-year-old game on the current generation consoles. Resident Evil HD Remaster is not a straight remake of the original game; it’s a remastered version of the 2002 GameCube remake, and a very good one may I add, despite its noticeable drawbacks. In an era where video game remasters are put out every month or so, Resident Evil is one of those games that makes sense to remaster because of its influential legacy, and an obvious choice if you want to experience the lifeblood of a fading genre."
