The term 'melodrama' is a somewhat loaded term - ask a few people if X media counts as melodrama, and you're likely to get a variety of answers.
that you could scoop it right up off of the disc with a spoon.....but despite its overuse of said trait it was still a pretty good game, just not perfect
is perfect. MGS4 deserves it's 95 rating.
I want to say: yes, and? What is the using for that article?
I love melodrama! Not just in my games, but also my movies. I have a large collection of Asian melodramas (mostly Korean and Japanese). I would argue that Final Fantasy X is more melodramatic than MGS4. Not to mention just plain corny. Both both games rank very highly for me... and as I said before, melodrama is a good for me.
I found MG4'S Melodrama to be embarrassingly stupid! It was like a Bollywood Indian movie.
and that's why you fail. Look, MGS4 has its over the top moments, but an Indian Bollywood movie? No.
All MGS4 need is a few dance numbers and it'll be there.
SPOILER WARNING!!!! If you watch the scene where snake and liquid fight, that's an amazingly melodramatic fight. There's also the fact that it doesn't make any sense. The fact that they inject each other goes completely against the fact that they want to kill each other, and would suggest highly that each of them is a masochist wanting the other one to kick their ass as much as possible. If they were looking for a fair fight, they would just not inject each other. That's all well and good, but if snake were a masochist, he more than likely wouldn't hesitate to kill himself. THAT IS MELODRAMA.
