Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is undoubtedly 2015's biggest game of the year and the lack of release date is making sure that the fans themselves are fittingly suffering from the phantom pain.
Come on Troll san, just say it already. He has to be there to destroy Outerhaven and Zanzibar. I get the feeling that the motherbase we are going to built will be destroyed by us playing as Solid Snake, that would be a sick idea, building all that just to be destroyed, which makes me fear if i should built it to to be impenetrable or not.
I would prefer if it ended leading to a remake of MG 1 and 2
That's the obvious direction that it's heading. The questíon is really how much of Metal Gear 1 will be covered if any. My guess is that the game probably ends with a shot of a Solid Snake in training or being briefed for operation Intrude N313.
As I've said before, they'd need to redo everything regarding MG1&2 because the Solid games have messed up MG1&2's established timeline. Maybe that is where Kojima is heading to correct his mistakes and make everything canon again. As far as Solid Snake is concerned, I really think we'll see the involvement of the Les Terrible Infants project meaning the appearance of Solid, Liquid, and Solidus (at least young versions of them).
There is no doubt that there won't be a remake. It needs to be remade.
Ocelot, That does sound pretty awesome. The better a job you do of building your base, and recruiting, the harder time you will have infiltrating that base as Solid. Nitro, That could lead to the remake of Metal Gear Solid. I Love Metal Gear, and still have all of the games, except Portable Ops. I can't wait to see what Kojima has in store for us.
Love the idea of that. Would be awesome. Just like a friend and me said something about making bosses playable by other players for pvp would be cool to do
Kojima's song selection is A tier
his first line needs to be "what did you think i wasn't gonna show up" to solidify the successful kojimatroll
Big Boss will train Solid Snake and their relationship in the date leading up to metal gear will be explained, along with Big Bosses story in general which leads to his defeat by solid.... but seeing as things are retcon quite often... I bet, considering the ending of Mgs 4, that bigboss was never truly the "bad guy" like metal gear 1 and 2 state. Metal gear 1/2 probably will be where Mgs V ends... a remake then must be coming! If its part of V.... what a game this will be!
I would love for this game to lead into a Metal Gear remake. I played it for the first time not to long ago. (The real one, on MSX) Very cool and complex considering it was only an 8 bit game. It laid so much of the ground work of the things we see in MGS1 & on.
That would make sense (and be totally awesome) for the Metal Gear saga to come full circle into a remake for Metal Gear 1 & 2. But would Kojima want to continue with the story or hand it off to someone else?
With as many times as he's stated 'This is the last Metal Gear', if they did remake MG 1 & 2, I would think that Really would be the end. The story would come full circle. There isn't any where else to go from there, except maybe side stories. Or maybe a game staring The Boss!! =D
@shorty That would be awesome! I would love to play the original Boss' story of how she came to be such a bad ass. And having a strong female lead, physically and emotionally would be really cool. Press x for cesarean. LOL ...srry >_>
So maybe David Hayter will be Solid Snake? That would be cold and maybe explain why he isnt playing Big Boss. Any way only thing for sure that we know is that Kojima knows how to surprise us whatever hes got planed im sure is gonna be epic. Cant wait to play the game, ground zero was not enough
Solid Snakes reveal us going to be one of those "OH DAMMMNNNN BOYEEEEE" even though I know its coning lol. What will the punchline be when he opens his mouth! And you know its gonna be Hayter!
I thought Solid Snake was the guy you play as? I'm really confused. Also doesn't this take place after all of the other MGS games hence the 5 in the title? People keep talking like they know what's going to happen and what not.
No. You should replay the series. The future of the series is already established now it's all about how Kojima gets us there. Canonically it goes... MGS3>Peace Walker>Ground Zeroes>MGSV>Metal Gear>Metal Gear 2>MGS>MGS2>MGS4 We are approaching the original 8bit Metal Gear for NES and MSX. Big Boss is Naked Snake who for reasons resembles his replacement Solid Snake (the original series hero).
I've never played Metal Gear Solid before, only seen brief snippets of it. Why does Hideo Kojima label the games chronologically out of order? And why doesn't he make a sequel to MGS4? Also is there maybe an abridged version of the entire story? I'm not really a prequel fan so I'll likely pass on this game then. Do you think he'll remake the games in chronological order with modern graphics? I wouldn't mind playing it properly from start to finish.
I won't give you a hard time because I know Metal Gear's continuity is a little crazy, even for fans like me who have played almost all of them. But here's the thing. For the most part, Kojima gives the big console releases the numbered titles. Metal Gear / Metal Gear 2 / Metal Gear Solid / Metal Gear Solid 2 / Metal Gear Solid 3 / Metal Gear Solid 4 were all released on consoles and are the big budget games. The others, Peacewalker, Ground Zeroes, Portable Ops, were all released for other systems. Handhelds I believe, but I could be mistaken. I think it is Kojima's reasoning that he probably shouldn't make these "smaller" releases main parts of the overall story. They are all prequels, from my knowledge. However, MGS3 is also a prequel and was released on consoles. So in the end, there's really no way to explain why Kojima is telling this story in such a disjointed, out of order way. MGS4 kind of made it even harder because it tells the end of the story. So any other Metal Gear games to come out would HAVE to be prequels. All I know, is that playing these games in order might make it easier to understand, but if you are hardcore enough, it makes sense. You just have to put the pieces together. Also, there are sites online that help explain the story, but again, it is extremely convoluted, so without actually playing the games, even those timelines and story summaries are pretty confusing.
Also, to answer your question, yes Solid Snake is a character that you play as in a lot of Metal Gear games. However, in this game, you play as Big Boss, which is actually the bad guy from the original Metal Gear game. Its basically a prequel to those original NES games. There is a reason that Big Boss looks like Solid Snake, but I won't say it here so I don't spoil anything for anyone. (Even though it really wouldn't be a spoiler since this information has been known for a very long time.) There is also Liquid Snake and Solidus Snake. But anyway, I'm getting off track. In this you play as Big Boss (Naked Snake). In MGS2 you played as Raiden. Not sure about the portable games, as I haven't played them. But yeah, Solid Snake isn't like Master Chief or Kratos or anything. He's not the recurring character you play as in every single game.
They may as well remake MG1, but from Big Boss's perspective
