The central attraction of the series has been its novel guitar controllers which help you feel you're strumming along with classic rock hits, but this portable version has had to make significant compromises. The package includes a "Guitar Grip" that slides into the DS console's cartridge port and mimics a guitar fretboard - but with four strings rather than five.

Players hold the DS vertically like a book, and strum using the supplied guitar pick on the touch screen, screaming into the microphone to activate "star power". It never really feels like playing a real guitar, but can still be fun."
