Top 5 Disappointing Games of 2014 That Failed To Live Up To Massive Hype And Expectations

2014 was a massive year for gamers. This was the year that was all about the video game releases seeing how that the next generation consoles are out and readily available worldwide. Publishers and developers alike blew their games out of per-portion in a sense that almost everything seemed to be AAA title worthy. From small indie titles to blockbuster hits that massive amounts of money was sunk into, so much hype went into these video games in particular.

I played Watchdogs, Destiny and ESO, but didn't have a chance to try the last two.

I would say Watchdogs was okay, granted it may not have lived up to the hype but I found the experience fun. Destiny was a letdown but I realize other people enjoy it. And honestly, I have nothing kind to say about ESO.

watch dogs, destiny, and elder scrolls online all looked like shit to me from the start. never understood why they were hyped. generic and boring was my first impressions when i seen them and while i havent played any of them due to zero interest, that seems to be what they turned out as anyway.

dont care about the sims and never did so i barely knew it existed.

and unity, well that actually sucks. havent played it yet but i loved ac4 so thats sad it didnt live up to expectations

Watchdogs looked like shit from the start to you?? That first E3 video was mind boggling. How could that not have gotten you hyped?? Shame the game didn't live up to being anywhere near it. It did a lot of things right, but did more wrong unfortunately. Haven't played any of the other games. Destiny beta was enough for me to know it wasn't a game I'd like very much. As for Unity, I was waiting for Ubi to sort it out before buying. Some say the latest patch has the game running a lot better so I might get it soon.

Thief deserves to be on that list more than Destiny does.

I am a Thief fan, but the new one was so bad...

For me, Destiny is up there. It's not that the game is blantantly horrendous, or even "bad", just a middling, average mildly enjoyable diversion coming from a company that can do far better.

I bought the Destiny PS4 bundle, and have put a good chunk of time in it, and when I was done with the game, and turned the system off, I didn't feel compelled to turn it back on again.

I know, in the days of both Halo 2 and 3, I was hooked.
I was expecting that same addicting gameplay from Destiny.

Hell, I actually expected "Halo-meets-Borderlands&q uot; which is exactly how they advertised it, and came away with a very bad taste in my mouth.

#1) Destiny, easily. I have never seen a more overhyped, mediocre game in my life.
#2) Driveclub. Banded AI, Online oriented game with broken online.
#3) MCC. Its inexcusable for 343 to release something in this condition online.
#4) KZSF. My favorite games on my PS3 and completely mediocre on my PS4. Its a big reason I sold it.
#5) Watchdogs. From the visuals to the gameplay it just stinks of mediocrity. Not to mention the gimped PC version that had a first day mod to unlock code already there that improved the visuals and the framerate.

Honestly the amount of overhyped games this year could go on and on. With the exception of a few great games it hasn't been a good year in my opinion.

#1 I play destiny and i find it very fun. It is not mediocre it is a very well done game. The problem with the game is that its missing content that they promised.
#2 Driveclubs online is not broken anymore.
#3 MCC is not broken anymore either.
#4 KZSF I just beat it, and i enjoyed it. It made me crave more at the end with the story, but it didn't matter because it was fun to me.
#5 Watchdogs is a good game, but it is not groundbreaking. I describe it like GTA with hacking.

It has been a great year, and I am enjoying the hell out of it.

The Evil Within
Shadow of Modor
Mario Kart
Smash Bros
Alien Isolation
Infamous SS
Far Cry 4. The list goes on.

Getting tired of people putting Watch Dogs on these lists instead of Thief. I mean come on people. Watch Dogs was NOT that bad.
