Analysis of Americas Sales for the Week Ending June 28, 2008

VGChartz writes: "While a number of significant new titles released this week, the real fun is in comparing the first half of 2007 to the first half of 2008, and looking at the chaos to come with the likely Xbox 360 price drop, increased Wii production, etc.

With the end of the first half of 2008, sales patterns should begin to change fairly dramatically in the near future. Microsoft is all but certain to drop the price of Xbox 360. In the meantime, five new titles debuted to sales of over 50,000 units this week as publishers attempt to rake in the dough before the quarter closes. Battlefield: Bad Company had the top debut selling over 300,000 units on Xbox 360 & PS3. However, as the case has been with non-exclusive titles in recent months, there appear to have been no significant hardware boosts from the debut.

Year over year trends are slowly changing from earlier in 2008. Wii and PS3 remain at levels over double what they achieved this time last year. DS and Xbox 360 are up more modestly than Wii and PS3 are.
