"The continued existence of a company called Atari as a major game publisher feels downright offensive. The name that once defined the medium for at least an entire console generation is now just that - a name. For almost two decades, the company formerly known as Infogrames has been wearing the skin of the real Atari, cashing in on cheap nostalgia and brand recognition for a brand that hasn't actually existed for a long time. The company has sunk dangerously close to the bottom of the barrel several times in the past, but it is now officially scraping it. Haunted House: Cryptic Graves may be the worst game of the year. Its only competition for that title is the garbage that Steam Greenlight periodically pumps out, but unlike most of those games, this wasn't made by a one-man team desperately cobbling together public domain assets. This has the Atari logo on it. Come to think of it, go read up on the history of the Atari brand. It'll be a lot more interesting than playing their game."

It's a real shame about it going down. I bought and loved the game. It's a 3rd person shooter but very fluid and fun. It suffered from low online numbers that's for sure. I think the game was really great. I bet it would do well on the consoles.
BD: 2014 has been an excellent year for anyone who enjoys a night of spooky gaming, but it’ll almost definitely pale in comparison to the impressive line-up that 2015 has in store for us. It’s a little surprising how good this year has been, since the year that follows the launch of a new console generation usually isn’t very memorable.
As devs learn their way around the new-and-improved platforms, building new engines that take advantage of their ability to do and show more, this has historically been a time for experimentation. That tends to result in a mixed bag of games that lay the groundwork for even better sequels down the road, and while this year has been arguably better than most, that doesn’t mean we didn’t get our fair share of duds.
From GameWatcher.com: "Haunted House: Cryptic Graves is an atrocity. It not only fails to do anything right but everything it tries to do is either an utter failure or completely broken. The story and writing is convoluted nonsense, acting is dreadful, design is tedious, mechanics are useless, music is both poor and stuck on repeat, and there is just so much that has been rushed or unfinished that it'll be a miracle if you get past the first hour. It's not even particularly scary, barring a couple of early jumps. Dreampainters' previous game Anna was fairly well received so I'm not sure what went so very wrong here, but I'm guessing it had something to do with Atari only announcing it two months ago - which doesn't look good for the next Alone in the Dark. To sum up, Haunted House: Cryptic Graves is a game you should steer well clear from. All hail the new E.T...".
