Sony Name Drops Crash Bandicoot Yet Again

Naughty Dog’s Community Manager Eric Monacelli mentioned once again at PlayStation Experience that Activision owns the rights to Crash Bandicoot, but for a company that doesn’t have the rights to a franchise Sony surely is eager to name drop it.

Why are they doing this to us, do they actually own the rights or not. That's something you would of announced at the PSX event.

If it doesn't come next E3 then it's not happening.

At this stage, they're either hiding something or trolling SUPER hard.

I'll go with Option C. They're hiding something AND trolling super hard

There are rumors that Sony secretly bought back the IP, and NDAs were signed to conceal it.

AngelicIceDiamond1437d ago

They have to be hiding something. All this trolling and teasing isn't for nothing.

I expect E3 or before E3 to show off something.

Just like Fox said if its not then, then Sony's just wasting everyone time.

If they get Crash all they need to do next is work on getting Spyro back

It could happen, unlikely, but it still could as Skylanders doesn't use Spryos name anymore. It's basically it's own franchise.

I rather have TLoU2 than Crash. And this is coming from a huge fan of platformers and is starving for a platformer. Make someone else do a platformer.

i dont think Sony has them ..and Activision after seeing all those eager nostalgia fans (me included) they will sell them for gold , if they re willing to sell it...they only thing Sony does (IMO) is trolling Activision and not us show them that Crash with them is dead and the best thing to do is to sell the rights ...also agree if they dont show it at E3 is not happening ever(this and TLG the second one had alot of chances for a reveal )

They are trolling. Would be cool if the new crash game looked like this but more polished and better

Neil already confirmed that Crash is owned by Activision. A fan asked him about Crash in one panel at Psx(the video is available on PLaystation youtube channel) and he said that Activision owns Crash.

I got a gut feel sony has a lot of secrets lined up. With them selling more consoles than microsoft I don't think they need to reveal a lot. They seem to play it pretty safe.

WeAreLegion1437d ago (Edited 1437d ago )

I guarantee they have Crash. They just won't say it until they have gameplay to show.

Wouldn't this be something the shop would set up and not Sony? I wouldn't count this as Sony namedropping.

breakpad1437d ago (Edited 1437d ago )

if they have it , they must reveal it soon because nostalgia fans start to grow up and will be more difficult to draw their attention.... also the majority of recent PS fanbase (the younger ages) never have tried of original pSX quality Crash games

ScorpiusX1437d ago (Edited 1437d ago )

Not a fan of the console but hope you guys do get crash , but as a skeptic why would they not announced this at Experience weekend especially at thier own event if they had obtained it .
someone at Activision would have spilled details of the deal and how much cash was exchanged, but nothing has been stated. Maybe u guys getting crash will inspire my perfered console to make efforts into releasing a new Conker or Banjo game.
