It will essentially serve as the online multiplayer component, but interestingly enough, Konami touts it as a separate game.
Are we gonna split CoD in CoD and CoD Online? BF5 and BF Online? SF5 and SF Online? Is "The Binding of Isaac Online" BUNDLED with "The Binding of Isaac"? Awesome! Seriously? Why the hell the mere online component of the game is being treated as if it was a different game? With GTA5 it was done by R* so they could treat "GTA Online" as a "free game" and fill it with microtransactions and grinding as a legit free to play game. The only little problem is that it was the MP mode of a full 60 USD game. I hope Metal Gear TFP's multiplayer mode doesn't follow the same scheme. If they try, well, gamers already felt for it.
After MGS:GZ which was a €20 demo, we should be grateful MGO is bundled. Shouldn't we?!? I mean....... shouldn't......... we??? :-P
Did you actually spend time with the game or just watch that speedy play through?
@ the disagrees: Jesus, some people can't take a joke!! @ Dirtnapstor: Yes, I did spend time with GZ and I honestly think it should've been a free demo. I said I wouldn't pay for it from the time it was announced but being a huge MGS fan I caved as soon as I saw it on the store and downloaded it. It did its job in leaving me wanting more, but so much more that I felt short changed. There's no two ways about it, they charged for what ultimately is a demo knowing that die hard fans, like myself, would give in and pay for it because we've been waiting so long for TPP. And that does make me bitter when they say Online will be bundled for free. I personally don't really care for the online anyway, but it should be free!!! Plenty of studios split teams to work on single and multi. They shouldn't be making out that they're being generous "bundling" it.
When did you start gaming...today? MGS4 had the exact same setup and absolutely no one had an issue...it's two different teams sharing game assets and they don't want either experience to be gimped. It will be on two separate disks...what's your problem it's not like they're charging you extra or anything.
Fell for what? I bought GTAV twice, haven't spent a dime on Cash Cards and iv had LOADS of fun in it. I would be excited if the online worked similar to GTA online. Your own ever evolving online persona. Just make sure the servers work better than GTA online.
WTF you talking about. Micro Transactions in GTA Online. I reached lvl 94 with the top property, a few mil in cash and a 10 car garage filled with high priced vehicles all modded out and didn't grind crap. The only thing I did was have fun and yes I would treat GTA Online as a seperate game because it has toones of stuff you can't do in single player along with everything you can do i single player.
Only Konami can make it sound like you should be grateful for not having to pay for the multiplayer half of the game separately. It amazes me even more that they continue to do it.
Two different teams are working on the game. Think about it. If you were 'dev team B' working on the online(which looks fantastic) wouldn't you want SOME recognition? They gotta treat it as two different things because they are two different things. Unlike let's say CoD, where the dev team works on a broken online, then tacks on a terrible story after for SP.
Lol no, not at all. I'm guessing you don't know the industry very well. Vast amounts of games have had a team working on single player & a completely separate team working on mutliplayer that's the way it works & has done for the last decade. Many games over the last few years handed the multiplayer completely over to Dice to handle. To say that you should buy these parts separately is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. They use the exact same engine, the exact same assets, They're the same game. Whether it's released broken or not doesn't matter at all. What a ridiculous thing to say. The other developer team is getting PAID to do the job it doesn't do the job for private public recognition.
Read the comments above. Yes, gamers are so gullible that they are actually grateful for it. Haha No wonder the industry is how it is now.
WTF are you talking about you're not paying for two separate games they just come on separate disks...is that really so hard to understand... Where are these cats coming from...
What a novel idea, bundling the MP and SP together...
Where did you cat's come from MGS4 did that years ago with zero backlash because no is to be had. You cat's are ungrateful...hell they don't have to even give us MP/CO-OP...it's not they have to be in every game. Oh wait that's right some of you are new to Playstation and have never experienced a real MGS title before.
Yeah you nailed it. New to MGS.
People here seem to forget, at the very least MGS game's aren't a buggy mess. I mean When GZ came out people could only find 'clipping' as a technical issue. That's it, no crashes or anything else. At least give Kojima and Co some respect, they actually ship working games unlike some companies.
It probably will be a separate release at some stage, like MGS4, which I actually think is a pretty good way to do it. I mean, Evolve, which is a team based shooter (and I'm looking forward to) that doesn't have a single player component like MGS5 is charging full price for that experience, Mgo could be considered in the same vain, but its included with MGS5.
Wether its a seperate disc, referred top as seperate, different team doing online, etc.... shouldnt matter as long as its included in our 60 purchase. However i do agree wording of certain articles make it seem as if konami has blessed us with a free online component lol No just like every other game online and sp go hand and hand and when we pay 60 we pay for both and it isnt a blessing lol. As long as that "were giving you an online portion for free, be grateful" mentality isnt whats happening here we are all good. Didnt read the article or havnt really seen what Konami has said just going by some of the comments. That demo bs they pulled was bs i guess thats why some ppl are responding this way.
Most of you must have never played MGS4.
